It’s not $1500 for a 1 bedroom, if you have a bigger place then you should be earning a lot or have a roomate. Plenty of people have roommates.

Everyone wants a flashy car and to live by themselves now and then complain about their finances. Do like everyone else did up until 2015 and drive a beater and live with roommates or get married. Sorry not sorry.

Find me a one bedroom apartment for around $1500 in Houston, TX plus or minus $300

here you go LINK

Houston is bad example cause you can still find "reasonable" rental prices, they just seem extremely unreasonable because buildings like the linked one use to be $600 a month not that long ago

These kids expect $25 hr+ to do menial tasks in an entry level warehouse position. I said what about the benefits? No care, it's all about their paycheck every 2 weeks.
They had both ends of college on the news last night and it was eye opening. On the front end there was a guy who was white guilted into going into the hood. He gave the entire 3rd grade class all paid scholarships to any in-state college for all 4 years. The only requirement was that they stay in the hood and graduate from the district's high school.

On the flip side they said it's a market which has 2 jobs for every graduate so they've hit the jackpot with an average minimum starting salary of $55k a year.

So if they're making that much from an entry level job, why in the hell shouldn't they repay the loans that got them that absurd starting salary?

Being a picker/puller in a warehouse is hard work. To be honest, benefits really mean nothing. They do nothing to pay your bills, and medical insurance is just something you pay for each month that you can barely afford to use, especially on a wage like this.

Companies need to understand that it is a competitive market for employees. Companies that think benefits will make a low wage more attractive, better reassess the situation. Every company is under the gun to provide benefits,This is not the 90s- when a company that gave you health insurance and a pension plan or a 401k was a "good job". I think even Mickey D's offers them now.

That is a one bedroom.

The reason I asked was in regards to people having roommates.

Minimum wage should be $24 an hour to match productivity gains

wires crossed the other guy was asking for a one bed room for 1500

this one is actually pretty great location for single in your 20s. Right down the street from the Nobie's and west alabama ice house

The Taco Bell by me has a sign at the drive-through that they are hiring at $16-22/hr.

I use to work in a Walmart DC and you will earn every cent in those places. That is a production job that pays just a little over $20 an hour. Weekend shift pays $22 an hour or more.

right. i think just about everyone here can agree $15/hour is pretty absurd for a warehouse job in a major metro in 2022.

Upper Kirby/Montrose? Lived within a .5 mile of that apartment for 4 years, absolutely wouldn't consider that area bad crime besides a few drunks and hobos wondering around

They have no clue what the other benefits mean to them and their future. It's all about the wage.

Absolutely nothing else matters if the wage doesn't cover basic day to day living. That is simply all there is to it. You can't begin to think about anything else until/unless you are cash flow positive.

Don't disagree with that at all, but what youngster would you pay 20-25.00 per hour with little to no experience?

I am also betting a good portion are not turning down because it won't meet their basic needs, but the unrealistic expectation they should be paid more.

right now, anyone, and I mean anyone, who is breaking a sweat for less than $20/hour is a fool

$20 is the are minimum for a warehouse job in a metro area
