Wait, zoomers are the most put upon now? I thought millennials had the claim on that a couple of years ago?
Yeah a couple of years ago they did. Then covid happened. Now we have the worst inflation in 40 years, less home buying power than people during the great depression and the consensus that another recession is coming.

They are in here legitimately claiming that $15/hr is plenty because it was plenty 40 years ago.

Another lie. You cannot make a point without lying.

Starting salary begins at $15/hr but candidate could negotiate for more depending on experience.

Your starting salary based in 40 hr week is below the poverty level so I am with them on that. However, what is the job advancement potential in salary increases in same job or job promotion.

I am a capitalist and if the job is only worth $15/hr so be it the market will bear it. However, dont expect career employees at that pay. You will literally get the lowest achievers and many convicts and felons at this pay rate.

That's because a lot of schools are abandoning shop programs. It takes 4 to 5 years to get a plumbing license. Why not set up a program in high school to knock out two of those years? There are so many things that can be done but never will.

Automation will cost far more than manual labor for almost every application except a very few limited positions

In the context of OP, in a pharma picking warehouse, just about everything can be (and is being) automated.

They need to stop talking down to kids that are interested in going into trade schools. Going back to when I was in high school you were literal trash for not wanting to attend a 4-year university which is ironic because those “trade” people are making better bank than the “highly educated” teachers.

That potato in the White House is too old to be a boomer. So are Pelosi, McConnell etc

GED or HS diploma, unions will train for construction work, pay apprenticeship wages, train and license. Paid training, no student loans, start off making good money on licensing.

But, its that manual labor papaw used to do when he was poor. They may not like that.

You understand none of this is opinion right? It’s easy to look up wages over time relative to purchasing power. Why can’t you grasp that?

I think some people in this thread don't realize that we're talking about objective, quantifiable measures of purchasing power and cost of living changes.

And also that most of us are way too old to be considered Zoomers, just realistic.

What is your plan to slow inflation?
I'm not sure that we will slow it until all the boomers leave office. As I said they seem to struggle with economics.

Most warehouses will be soon enough. I remember when autocad was too expensive to buy, draftsmen were cheaper. I got displaced by autocad. Retail and fast food is headed there with the quickness.

Progress happens.

I'm not a Boomer but I don't necessarily think someone can expect to graduate HS and walk into a job with no marketable skillset and expect a wage where they are completely self sufficient. I don't think that's been the case for 30 years. Maybe it was in 1962.
Things were going well until the Boomers came of age, eh?

What about AP programs that let you graduate as a college sophomore? Going back to the Vo-Tech program seems like a good idea

Completely agree with this.

Hell, I wish I'd had the option of shop class just so I'd know how to do a few more things for myself that I didn't learn from family.

You keep saying automation is taking over but have you ever seen an old geezer try to use the kiosk at mcdonald's?
