I know I am. America (and the world) is a better place because of it.

Probably stopped the Balkanization for 200 years or so and grew the power of the federal government.

I’m not sure either side was well suited to function on it’s own. Except Texas of course

i'm just glad that humans don't own other humans as pieces of property anymore, in that same scope, scale, and context, anyway....

Well my family was Mississippi elite and plantation owners previous to the CW

I certainly would have liked to have been born into the wealth

I honestly have no idea what would have happened had the South won the war. Slavery was going away one way or the other. I don't know if that means mass migration into the Northern States and a small slave holding country or what.

But to answer your original question, my life is pretty good so yeah, I guess so.

Oh yeah it really helped our country become a better place by 625k able bodied men dying and spending egregious amounts of money fighting amongst ourselves.

That fuking war set this country back 30 years behind other countries.

I will concede that bringing slaves over was the worst mistake we as a country ever made. If I could go back in time I'd slap my 4x grandfather for ever contributing to the importation of slaves.

40,000,000 is a big number.

In fact, it’s believed there are more people in slavery today than at any time in human history.

It don’t worry yourself. It’s not white people holding these slaves so there’s no need to worry.

It’s just a shame that the right of a people to choose their own government outlined in our own Declaration of Independence from Britain had to pay the ultimate price for it, that and well sovereignty and the democratic will of the people.

I don't think it's certainly correct to say "yes".

Both the USA and the CSA had the right to self-determination and the right to forge their way to a more perfect republic on their own terms.

Both the USA and the CSA embraced slavery and both were founded on a desire to maintain slavery. There was a faction of colonists who did secede from the UK because they wanted their human property to remain safely property and they perceived the Crown as a threat to that.

I don't think slavery would have existed much longer even if the South would have won.

After the war, most Northern states would not allow any black people in their states. Yes, slavery was on its way out.

Stick to animal threads, Pecker. This is just a troll thread.
