The Democrats were so pissed off about having to give up slavery that they started the KKK, put Jim Crow into force, killed thousands of innocent blacks, harassed and murdered white Republicans wherever they found them, etc. Democrats do like their racial identity politics.

I find this highly insulting. Yes, I specialize in animals and male empowerment, but I'm far more versatile than that.

I don't think slavery would have existed much longer even if the South would have won.

Get over it. You're advice is even worse than Golden Nugget's. Matter of fact, I think you are GN. How do you feel about the Jooos?

Politics was moving away and the majority of people even in the South didn't own slaves. After half the men in the country were mamed over the issue I would think most Southerners that were poor and slaveless anyway would have become indifferent to the issue at best. An attitude of "I've already fought in a war over this, I'm not doing it again, I don't own slaves anyway."

The CW set the South back but the North and the new states made tremendous strides in every economic area.

People think that the mechanization of agricultural labor during the industrial revolution would have made the demand for workers obsolete. That's not necessarily true, and it also doesn't account for the non-farm slaves (kitchen/house/etc.).

Absolutely. It just sucks Sherman didn't burn more. Slacker.

The industrial revolution and heavy machinery would have alleviated the need. Also it was becoming less an acceptable practice worldwide. I don't think it would have lasted more than another decade or two.

No.
I abhor slavery and the war may have been necessary to dispose of it in the 1860s, but, it would most likely have died out on its own soon enough (certainly, by 1900).
It set the stage for the unconstitutional, liberty consuming leviathan that is the current federal government.

Admiring a war criminal. Is this you talking or your brain tumor?

You know as well as I do that economic labor was what slavery was about. House slaves were a "luxury" because it was available. As said, the world view of slavery was changing around the time of the civil war anyway. As America was emerging in the world and the industrial revolution, slavery would have fallen out of favor and it was at the time anyway.

You are so brave for saying this. Nothing about your post is virtue signaling nor an attempt to ignite an internet argument. Not all heroes wear capes, and you, sir, are that hero.
Stunning and brave
