It's funny because when I was a kid, I use to think that was normal. I just remember in the evening, after my dad got home from work, i'd go ride with him somewhere and he would have a can of beer set between his legs.
Or i'd be outside with my dad and one of his friends would pull up, get out with a can of beer..
Not sure what people consider it to be today, but if you are a responsible adult, I don't see the problem with it.

There are LEO's right now that are scared for their lives. You are going to swerve ever so slightly on the road. Despite that fear they will pull you over. My grandpa never drove anywhere without a beer or whiskey. Tough old bastard and a good guy, but I'm not sure that was a good decision.
