Met Kip once he was a personable guy.

OT group should raise money and open Fonic.
A Sonic with a boxing ring.
We could franchise that next to bars where people feel like their 6 feet tall and bullet proof or they are hungry after partying.

Kip actually tried to do something like that with his Downtown Alive! plan back in like 2008.

The vote on the Kipland tax was in 2009.

The floods of 2016 halted some of the momentum of downtown. It peaked in the late 2000’s.

It's doing great. I work downtown and it's very busy during work week hours, and gets a fair bit of business on the weekends from the times I've been.

You are either invested in downtown or have never ventured to an actual downtown for a functioning city

He's talking about the grocery store.

It does well

Because I visit a grocery store downtown I have to be invested there? I don't follow.

A couple of new bars are opening downtown.

In the past 5 years, Matherne's opened up. There's also been about 250-300 housing units build up in the area to support things like the grocery and gym.

It's not in a bad place, but I do think open containers need to be allowed on 3rd street.

It's doing well. The residential growth downtown props that up, not the shitty bars that have closed.

I think as more housing and hotels keep going up, there will be more demand for casual bar/dining establishments like Walk-On's over shitty bars.

Almost all are for rent only. Downtown needs more quality options to buy.

Mathernes is doing fine. That gym upstairs has been stuggling.

I would like to see more units for sale.

Either way, the leased spaces are filling up. I'm assuming it's actual residents and not corporate apartments (usually occupied on weekdays only).

I was not a fan of the gym at all.

I like it better than the other downtown options, but if it fails I'll just go back to the Y.

Bringing in an NBA G-League team and adding a Walk-On's would provide a serious option for Friday nights but I don't think downtown is there yet.

Need to fully update the Canes river center. That place is a shithole

No reason to pour money into that place. It's barely used now.

That problem falls squarely on the managers of the facility. It is still nice enough to attract midlevel conventions
