Is being an only child a disadvantage?

In what possible way would it be a disadvantage?
I'm an only child and always had my own room, didn't have to share my toys, could get some peace and quiet when I wanted, didn't deal with hand me down clothes, wasn't constantly being compared with a sibling, etc.
And because I had good parents I'm well adjusted and not a spoiled brat either. I love being an only child and wouldn't have it any other way.

No and multiple studies over the years have consistently shown that only children are smarter and more successful.

Jesus was not an only child. They talk about his siblings in the bible.

I think it's a parents job to give a child a sibling. After the parents die your just alone with no immediate family, kids should have siblings to stay together throughout life.

For an only child that isn't well adjusted, these things tend to create problems down the road.

I definitely agree. But parenting is a huge part of it, so much so that if you are an only child with good, stable, competent parents...you will likely be fine whether you had a sibling or not, and likewise if you had shitty no-discipline parents you'd probably be a brat whether you have siblings or not.

Somehow despite not having a sibling I was able to miraculously get to a point where I was able to have discussions on interweb forums by actually making points and not regurgitating years-old cliches.

The only only children I know are women and they tend to be a handful. It's odd I don't know any guys that are only children.
