That's why the defund the police movement is one of the most misguided movements among leftist, guilt-ridden white people who do not live among black people in their communities and rarely interact with them. A black person is significantly more likely to be murdered by another black person than they are by a white person or a police officer. Data shows that time and time again. So when you chose to defund the police you are significantly hurting the black people in the community because they are losing much of their protection from harm. If there are constant shootings and murders in their neighborhoods who are the law abiding citizens of the neighborhood supposed to call if there are fewer and few police officers? They will have no choice but to take steps to defend themselves...which will inevitably lead to more violence.

Leftist virtue-signaling white people who live in "blue" cities in neighborhoods far away from daily interactions with your average black person are happily patting themselves on the back for "keeping black people from being killed by the police" totally obviously to the fact their "defund the police" cries are putting black people in much greater danger...as evident by the fact the murder rates in many US cites have been skyrocketing over the last 6-7 years.
