I have also considered retiring in NW Arkansas. For those in that part of the state, how is Gravette and the surrounding area?

It certainly has some beautiful places.
Weird how it gets much less love and mention for the the mountain thing than say Gatlinburg or other places.

Supposed to go up next weekend for the basketball game…but I have no idea how we’ll make a noon game from BSL. Guess I could check the boy out of school and leave at lunch.

My parents bought a vacation home in Hot Springs Village in 2022. They loved being there so much that they’re making it their permanent home. My wife and I have stayed in the home and the Village several times now and we get it. Arkansas is beautiful and we love the Hot Springs area.

Grew up going to my grandparents place on Ouachita.
We ski’d 6 cousins at once to watch fireworks at Mt. Harbor in ‘76. Awesome times.

I've lived in Fayetteville for 32 years.
Gravette, Gentry, and Siloam are all nice places. Gravette and Gentry are both pretty small, but both of them are growing due to the general growth of the region.
Living here is very nice; however, due to the explosive growth over the last 20 years the infrastructure is struggling to keep up.
The cost of living is also creeping up, real estate is insane around here—too much demand and not enough supply. We live in a standard nice, upper middle-class suburb and I get frequent calls from real estate agents asking if I want to sell my house.

We’d move from LR to NWA in a heartbeat if it weren’t 3 more hours from my family in Louisiana. It’s already hard enough to travel down there or to the beach from Little Rock.
We have family in the Bentonville area. Amazing schools and just great amenities everywhere. The parks and neighborhood fitness centers, trails, splash pads. It’s really impressive and nice to see people’s tax dollars actually used for things that are beneficial to everyday life. I’d send my kids to public school if we lived up there, no doubt.
I doubt there ever need be concern about liberals overrunning NWA. Wal mart has some interesting rules for their vendors, and wal mart is very dedicated to ensuring that area stays extremely nice and clean. They’re always trying to attract the top talent from all over for executive positions and what not. I’d guess half of NWA is employed directly by wal mart or the vendors who have (by force) their corporate headquarters up there (Tyson, General Mills, better home and garden, JB hunt, and many more).

We lived in Texarkana Texas, 2 miles from Arkansas, we explored Arkansas on weekends. It is definitely a gem and one of the most beautiful states. The locals say they want you to come visit but please don't stay! ?? It's just gorgeous!

I'm a coonass in Fayetteville for past 30 plus years. I love the scenery, waterways, fly fishing, the Greenway, dove hunting , deer hunting, and duck hunting. All this hunting and fishing is really close (sometimes in my yard)., I love watching the Tigers come up and play in my town. The public and private schools are all excellent up here. Very little crime.
Food has gotten better over the years but it pales in comparison to south Louisiana. So if you are going to live here bring your culinary skills and always keep the sausage, tasso, ponce, grattons pipeline open.

Been up here over 3 decades and the people up here are usually very nice. There is no blue blood up here. And even the Waltons are down right nice.

We competed in the chili / gumbo cook off two years in a row and ran away with the gumbo competition. It was like taking candy away from a baby. We stopped competing due to unfair advantage. The food is not even in the same ball park.
They do pretty good bbq.
