My point was I know the difference between real sexual abuse/assault and supposed assault.

It's a flavor of the week because one of the most prominent people in entertainment was just outed and summarily fired.

a lot of a list celebrities came out of the woodwork and said it happened to them, and it hasn't just been the person outed. It turns out that the problem is more widespread than just one studio head.

The point of the movement is to show that it has happened to people across all ages industries and parts of the country. To give courage to others afraid to speak out. To quash some of the behaviors that have allowed the Weinsteins, OReillys, Ailes, Clintons and Trumps of the world to do what they did for so long without repercussions.

Your friends are not obligated to speak out. They don't owe us their survivor story. But your disdain for people who are choosing to share their stories...

I worked at a bar. On my off night I was there and got shite house drunk.

Woke up to some girl I didn't know who was sub par. She raped me.

For some odd reason I feel that my sexual harassment case would get thrown out with the quickness. Yet if she claimed I raped her, my arse would be in jail.

Interestingly, the few places I've truly felt very uncomfortable while at a bar or out were in liberal uteopias where I was likely surrounded by liberal men. New York, Miami, Boston, Jersey. In all those places the men were much more inappropriate with their advances, and more persistent when I gave them the get away from me signal.

Could just be coincidence, I don't know. But my experience in bars and clubs in the south weren't like that. Sure, guys offered to buy drinks, had terrible "pick up" lines, stayed around a little longer than I would've preferred, but that was more about them not having game than being disrespectful.

I just can't take you seriously when you post "me too" because you were hit on at a bar, and you didn't enjoy it. So scarred. So brave.

Now you're gaslighting other posters. Your presence is toxic here and this harassment won't stand.

I don't see why you're making this a liberal conservative issue. clearly liberals have a problem with this too.

Weinstein was one of the biggest fundraisers for the Democratic Party ever.

Do you think that I would think that it was okay for a democrat to assault you?

The thing I don't get is when it happens girls just don't say shite.

Like I dated a girl a few years ago and after we had been dating for a few months she told me about this guy who was at this party we were at and how that she took xanax and shite back in high school and passed out. Well she said she woke up a few hours later or something and the dude was banging her.

I was just like, "wait, wut.".

She just said that she was so fricked up that she couldn't really feel anything and that she didn't blame him because she was laying in the bed in her bathing suit.

I told her, "I mean, so you were raped" and she just looked at me like I was a complete idiot for even coming to that assumption and then told me it wasn't a big deal because she had known the guy throughout school.

Why don't you care about my rape story?!

Why doesn't it matter when some unattractive girl takes advantage of my blackout state and beer goggles?

I would have never consented if I weren't drunk. That. Is. RAPE

Why don't you care about my story?

If this is something you'd like to understand, there are numerous sociological and psychological thinkpieces on the why s of why women don't know necessarily how to respond in these situations post trauma.
