I don't really buy anything on there anyway. The last thing I ordered was probably two years ago?

I've never bought anything that seemed like a knock-off or counterfeit on amazon.

for the most part, everything we've ordered has still been of good quality if also highly rated. But it's something i could see them needing to clean up pretty soon.

Wal-Mart and EBay are upping their game.

This. Ebay is making up significant ground on them and has great promo codes. Lots of site-wide percent off promos, "fast and free" shipping, and they already are generally the lowest price due to multiple sellers competing.

They have a major problem of counterfeit products and junk being sold on their website. It's become almost a 50/50 shot of whether you get something of quality or not. Not to mention all the reviews are fake so you can't tell whats good and whats not. I have started to buy in stores again so they can sort through through all the junk products for me. Anyone else have this problem with amazons quality?

Not really, with a little bit of research and common sense you can sort the good from the shite

But it is annoying that Amazon is being flooded with Chinese knockoff shite. Some of the manufacturers that have thrived on Amazon have become synonymous with quality that rivals more expensive brands you see in brick and mortar stores. Anker and RavPower and brands like that are great alternatives to pricier items by Belkin and whatnot.

But if you want a phone case or charger or some similar item, you've got to sort through tons and tons of mediocre dogshit to find quality versions of the same thing.

In short, not wary, just annoyed.

I think Ebay is also overhauling their site soon, which is good because some aspects are antiquated.

Fake reviews are often 5 stars and have no detail about the product provided. It's pretty easy to see when it is a bum item or not. You need to Prime more.

Walmart online is really becoming a better option than Amazon and their shipping is usually faster now as well.

Walmart doesnt vet their approved sellers that well just yet.

Their prices are great though

No membership required on Wal-Mart or Ebay either.

I agree but their main product offering for normal goods is on par with Amazon, their general shipping is faster and prices are typically lower, even if just a marginal amount .

The company I work for used to purchase about 1-2 million of product from Amazon a year, but that is quickly switching over to walmart because of all of the above. Amazon used to be a place to get things cheaper, now its really just about "convenience"

I am in total agreement with you here. I have bought a lot from Amazon but now am suspicious of the products they advertise as far as legitimacy as well as quality. The reviews are mainly bullcrap.

Yeah I find its more of electronics that I have the most trouble with. 50/50 was probably an exaggeration, more like 75% good 25% bad.

“Let the buyer beware” warning applies to buying anything from Amazon, their contract sellers, as well as from any other seller of products or services out there in stores, restaurants, dealerships, or the internet. Don’t buy dumb. The other warning is like unto it - “you get what you pay for” most of the time.

There’s an episode about this very thing on the Reply All podcast. I recommend giving it a listen.
