This is the big league, anti fast mover, long range, high altitude system that the Russians use themselves. Now, the original design is dated, at just under 40 years, but it has been consistently updated, primarily for export. The Russians (Russia is big, baw) still field the systems, but have a couple of newer designs to fill the same role in critical areas. This thing is multi-role, is able to destroy ground targets and undergone successful tests against ballistic missiles.
The S-300 can defeat our "stealth" advantage, too.

We hear this literally non-stop. This weapon can do yada yada yada it's so scary we have nothing to stop it yada yada yada. It is a great weapon, but the resources the USA have compared to a country like Iran offer many ways around them if we want.
Im well aware what it is. It doesn't matter. You still have to have well trained users with great technology, stuff happens. Again, Iran could not keep enough in supply to deter the US. Israel is another story. The US would simply use unmanned methods to attack them until their supplies were low enough and exposed enough to use manned missions. It's the age old method.
I think the point of Iran getting them is because they feel they need them to protect something important enough to need them. Most likely from Israel first and the USA second.

"We" didn't send anything, the POTUS PRICK and CO. sent it.

Geez, it's almost like Obama's #1 advisor, with an office right next to his, was some pro-Iranian administrator with the ability to get shite done.

So is it not highly likely that Russia is supplying; 1) technicians along with the purchase of the weapons systems, or 2) training for Iranians inside Russia to maintain system effectiveness?

I'm calling bullshite. Those things would probably cost like $1.7 billion.

Well lucky for them the nuke deal Obama just signed with them frees up over $100 billion. I'd say they can spare a billion or two on an air defense system that all but guarantees we cannot touch their nuclear weapons facilities.

If the news media would stop reporting on Iran they will just go away.

They are not doing it to deter the U.S. from bombing their nuke facility. They are doing it because Israel would do it.
Or their cross gulf neighbor, they are very well aware that this would not stop the USAF if we wanted to blow the facilities to pieces.

Obama has neutered the us to the point that shite like this happens. Hillary will just make things worse. Oh well.

Hate to break it to you, but the S-300 can intercept just about anything we put in the sky.

The S-300 is no joke. That's for sure. It can shoot down just about any fighter, bomber, and even cruse missiles.
The situation with Iran has just got a lot more complicated and we've just lost most of our options on dealing with it.
For a big, bad ex tanker, patchholding biker you sure are a drama queen pussy, we have enough cruise missiles in the 5th to overwhelm this in less than 100 seconds.

You're an idiot and only showing just how ignorant you are with your over the top attempt at trying to be an Internet badass. Darth,
I'd be willing to bet that there are a lot more S-300 sites than just that around that nuke facility. I know we do have a lot of cruise missiles, but I don't think enough to make that big a difference. I'd fully imagine that there are sites along any possible ingress route we could use...

Even without special munitions, I would agree with you, although this target is also pretty hardened. We probably have pretty good targeting data so it would just be a matter of doing it.
However, let me ask it this way:
What is the risk assessment of the mission for a standard strike package facing the Iranian made Raad, Sayyad and Ya Zahra systems compared to them adding the S-300?
The SEAD mission just got a lot more complex and risky. I know USAF likes to do all of that in one continuous deal for a target like this - illuminate the sensors, blind them, destroy the launchers, then service the target, but the S-300 will make all of that more difficult, more risky and, therefore, less likely that we'll actually do the mission.
So, it's win/win for our enemies.

I would not be totally surprised if there wasn't some diversionary action in another part and have maybe special forces do the work on the ground. From everything I've read, those systems are hard to beat and will knock anything we have out of the sky...meaning other countries have even less of a chance.

Iran is also creating an offensive force of Shi'ite militias across Iraq and Syria. They are preparing for war, and we are funding it.
Thanks obama.

I guess you are right, the USA has no possible options against a system that has been deployed for a bit over 36 years
Does it add to the difficulty dealing with them? yes, is it insurmountable? hardly
There have been several knowledgeable post in this thread but you two chicken littles are not among them.
