Interviewing for a job in Greenville, SC

I'm going on an interview for a job there this week and if I get the position I'll have to move there for 8 months. The position needs to be filled ASAP so I'm looking to move there at the end of the month. Where should I live? The company will give me around 1200 a month for living expenses and the job is at one of the hospitals near downtown. I want to spend around 800/month for rent.
Also, I notice that Asheville and Charlotte are really close are there any other areas I should visit.

Ha, no worries with that. I had a friend that lived there after college for a year and she enjoyed it. I'll be moving from NOLA so I probably wont be impressed with the night life. Although, from what I gathered Greenville has a pretty sweet downtown and like I said earlier it's really close to Asheville and Smokey Mountain national forest.

Negative but I have a group of friends from college who live in Asheville now. I also enjoy hiking and camping which can be done easily in that area. I'll probably be venturing out a lot on weekends and flying back to NOLA for Saints games.

I'll be making good money while there where I'll be able to travel on weekends. $800 is what I want to pay, I'm sure $1000 is what I will end up paying. I mean it's Greenville , SC it's probably not that expensive of a town. I saw a few places downtown that would fit my budget. At the end of the day though location does not matter it's just a place to rest my head.

I like the Greenville area. Clemson is a fun gameday, gorgeous hiking and kayaking, fantastic golf courses everywhere.

I'm about some hiking and kayaking but not so much golf. I also enjoy good beer and have tried tons of good craft brews from the NC area. I would assume SC would have few good ones too.

Greenville has changed a lot in the last ten years. It has a really nice downtown, tons of bars and restaurants. Falls park is really nice also. You'll be surprised. I go to Asheville every now and then and I prefer Greenvilles downtown better. It's a lot cleaner. Asheville scenery is better(mountains).

Haven't been there except on I-85 drive-thrus, but folks who have say it's a nice place. Atmospheric areas downtown and along the river.

Asheville is about an hour away. Number of touristy things there.
Mountains nearby. Beaches are 3hrs away, as is Charleston which is also a fun place to visit.

Nice scenery. If you want friends quick just cook a pot of jambalaya in the apt. common area and give it out.

Friend of mine moved there after school and loved it for the few years he was there. He had great things to say about downtown and spent most od his weekends hiking, biking and paddling in the surrounding mountains.

It's the complete opposite of Charleston, but not in a bad way. Charleston has an awesome nightlife but there's a lot more outdoor activities in Greenville. The economy is pretty good there, BMW and all their part suppliers employ thousands there. My cousin and her husband moved there from Dallas (he was working at the GM plant in Arlington) and they love scenery and apparently you can get a lot of house for your money there.

Flew into Greenville on a one day business trip. I found it to be a beautiful little city with a great downtown area. I also love Asheville's outdoorsy, funky, hippy vibe. I think you are making a good choice. Good luck.
