This should actually be a huge help for Eastbound traffic coming off the new bridge as well as south 110 bound traffic coming from DOTD.

It probably won't do a whole heck of a lot for West bound traffic, though.

Another thing that will help some is the next phase of I-10 widening which will add 1 lane in each direction to the stretch between Highland and 73.

Not sure about the loop, but supposedly a decision on the new bridge crossing to replace the Plaquemine ferry will be made by the end of this year.

Either Plaquemine Point or Bayou Goula.

No plan yet on how to pay for it, and we are still likely 10 years away from moving dirt. But it's a big step.

Hopefully by then, we'll see them widen I-10 to 6 lanes between the bridge and LA415 (including the bridge approach) as well as widen Airline Highway in Baton Rouge and Ascension.

The problem with BR, and LA in general is that they build roads for right now, instead of building for the future.

it's been that way for years and will continue to be. BR will always be 10-20 years behind.

PS closing the Dalrymple exit is BS

I saw this yesterday. I still don’t understand how someone coming from I-110 is supposed to cross over two lanes to get to the service road exit for Dalrymple. It looks like the service road is going to start right by the bridge exit which means more wrecks and slowdown at that area. I think getting rid of the Perkins exit and on ramp is a huge mistake. This will cause a greater clusterfrick on Acadian in the morning and afternoon. This traffic will also slow down Perkins road from Acadian to Essen.

All of this so John Bel can say he’s fixing problems and making progress.

Once upon a time, someone designed and built I-459 at Birmingham and “6 laned” I-75 from Atlanta to Macon. There was zero (no buildings nothing) on either stretch of road, one about 30 miles and the other about 100. Those were done by people on this board who are called “hillbillies”, “rednecks”, etc. There are now hundreds of thousands of people who live along these corridors, clean industrial sites (international auto manufacturers for one), and efficient traffic flows. All done 35 YEARS before Louisiana attempts to alleviate similar congestion in its capitol city. What an absolute joke.
