quote:kraftwerk, the the, Gino Latino, communards, all the alterna chicks wearing obsession perfume... You damn right I was there in the late 80s chasing some pregoth girls.
All is straight alternative guys would go there .

I had to fight Hair off me one night at the skinny puppy/severed heads concert. Ogre is literally spitting fake blood all over the audience and she's trying to stick her tongue down my throat.

True story.

All of this actually took place in BR?

Nothing will ever come close to the 80s club scene. First night I walked into the Bengal as an 18yo and saw 2 Asian chicks with spiked egg white hair dancing to Rock me Amadeus and scritti politi I was IN!
Best years of my life growing up and the music was off the chain.

That must have been after my time (late 80's). I just remember hooking up a lot at that place.

The Bayou
Punk barefoot chicks and free pool in the afternoon

Xanthus
Spiked egg whites hair and lots of slutty makeup

I have to admit I enjoyed both very much
Best record store ever behind the bayou run by Woody "Dr death" Dumas. That's where I first discovered sisters of Mercy, legendary pink dots, colourbox and big audio Dynamite.
My mind was blown.

I think this is probably the most obscure thing ever but does anyone remember the punk band "screaming sirens" playing in BR?
I remember 2 songs that Ive never heard since: "I want to be like Mr T" and "Love Slave".
what the frick? I only heard these once and I can still remember the lyrics.
Damn the mid 80s were something else.
Holy shite!! I didn't make this up after all! YouTube just came through in a big way. screaming sirens - love slave!!!

The name is vaguely familiar but I can't say I really remember them. I was the local music show DJ on klsu back then so remember a lot of local bands. The Dick Nixon's I think were pure genius.
