Early 80s Peter Gabriel, cabaret Voltaire, throbbing gristle, clash, trio, I could on for days.. some of the best music ever in those days.

This started as some sort of A to B list, but I kind of got off track. There was tons of good music in the 80's.
Joy DIvision - Love will tear us apart again
a-Ha - Take on Me
REM - Driver 8
Blondie - Rapture
THe Clash - Know your rights
Run DMC - Peter Piper
Beastie Boys - Looking down the barrel of a gun
Dire Straits - Money for Nothing
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child of Mine
Hank WIllimas Jr - A country boy can survive

Love Joy Division (especially that song!) and New Order.

"Transmission" is my favorite Joy Division song and, gun to my head, "Age of Consent" by New Order is probably my favorite song period.

First day as a freshman at lsu I walked into cotton club, song playing I found out later was Boys by Book of Love... drunk hot blonde girl staggers over to me and we start making out
Her girlfriend kept dragging her away and she came back like 3x before her friend finally left with her.
At that moment I knew I was going to love LSU

I remember Kmart had that album of every single end cap. The only difference was one OXO was colored and the rest black.

working in college athletics... you get walk up songs for baseball & softball players
for the 2019 season... the baseball team's top hitter used this song (YouTube) for his walk-up and had it stuck in my head ALL frickING SEASON

Frida - I know There's Something Going on
Somewhere there's a remix to this song that;s actually pretty good. Or maybe it was the X.

Not obscure, but the video for Seperate Ways was filmed in New Orleans.
All the times I have seen that video and I never realized that. LOL

Money for Nothing isn't obscure, but definitely is great for giving context to the lyrics
