Go to UPS Store and they give me 2 options for my 5 pages of documents going to Japan.

1. $93 to arrive yesterday if I use UPS.
2. $5 to arrive Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of this week if I use USPS.

3 days wasn't a big difference so I sent it via the USPS.

According to tracking, it's been sitting in Miami since last Thursday.

WTF?

Well, you relied on the govt to do something on time, so....

USPS tracking is unbelievably inaccurate. I've had things delivered before they even register in tracking.

Is it batteries?

I do this a lot...sometimes they don't update it very well. Mine was sitting in nyc for days then it magically showed up on time.

LOL, here is where you went wrong.

I had a package from USPS, leaving Tenn, get shipped to Newark, then to Harrisburg, then back to Newark, then to Illinois, then to Some place in western Kansas, then onto to Kansas City, then finally to St.Louis.

usps are the suck

No shite. If I try calling USPS, they can't check it in their automated system and won't send me to an actual person.

I would pay the $93 for time travel

Every time I get a tracking number from USPS, it never gets updated until it's sitting at my front door.

It should have cleared customs to get out of the US even though it was only a cover sheet and 4 pages of documents.

I'll try to wade through USPS's bullshite 800 number again.

I've shipped hundreds of things with USPS over the years. Have never had a real problem at all with anything.

USPS is pretty damn good.

I'm in Asia, and I just want to prepare you that the next tracking update might be Los Angeles.

The packages seem to clear customs faster when the forms are typed. I sometimes wonder if sloppy, handwritten forms just get tossed aside for later.

I sent a watch to Hong Kong for service. Because of insurance costs I used usps. The tracking was wildly inaccurate once it left the country.

They may have a scanning system which does a better job reading typed labels rather than hand-written ones.

If I were stationed in Japan, I'd have a side business of (ab)using my APO privileges for deliveries into domestic Japan's mail system.

USPS does not update tracking as often as the others (they handle a lot more and don't have as good a system as UPS. If it hits a distribution center it likely won't update until it hits the next distribution center. That said any distribution center in the US is supposed to only three mail days apart.
Could be caught up in customs.

I order and ship a ton of parts monthly. I find USPS to be the cheapest by far for me and they have never lost anything nor damaged anything and my deliveries make their destination and they pick up at my door daily.
I never got the hate.

Napoleon, are SQ electric dryers as good as the washers?

yes, dryers of all brands are very similar, but the Speed queen design is basically a mash up of the Maytag and Whirlpool/Kenmore desing used in the 90's but with better electronics. So yes. I would expect a Speed Queen dryer to last 10-15 before it's first minor repair and last 20 years before it's first major repair.

They are just made so well. It's like they were designed by technicians. They use heavy duty everything, but at the same time simple and inexpensive parts.

I worked on a 1985 unit the other day, I had to change the orignial belt. 30 years and never worked on, had a bad belt and that was it.

When they do break, it's usually the thermal fuse and that is operator error most times (too long a dryer vent, clogged dryer vent or clogged lint filter) And that is a sub $40 part.

The only negative of speed queen is that they are ugly and look 20 years old brand new (so what IMO) and they are hard to find dealers for locally.

I'm mulling expanding to selling new machines as well as repair and becoming the local Speed Queen and AGA Marvel guy.

Love USPS shipping

Their tracking isn't always very up-to-date though

100%

I have found in all my online ordering and shipping that Fedex (here where I live) has been the absolute worst. Leave package at wrong address, lie and say they made an attempt to deliver when they did not and no note was left, very late and delayed on shipping.. etc..

I have never had any issues with USPS. I agree their tracking is not the best, it's hardly ever accurate or updated, but their prices are great.. and if you are shipping within the US.. USPS Priority 2-3 day shipping is very fast for a decent price.
