One other note.. and I absolutely can be talking out my butt.. because I don't really ship much outside the country
depending upon certain countries.. but regardless of who you used to send something overseas to.. once it arrives there it can change over to whoever their local delivery carriers are.. ? which means sometimes you are then reliant upon however that operates.

USPS is the cheapest and fastest in a lot of cases but has the highest loss/misdelivery rate, especially in specific places (NYC and Chicago). FedEx is the most reliable. UPS is slow and expensive. OnStar is the best overall but is just a regional carrier.
I would use FedEx for Canada and USPS everywhere else. For the overseas packages, look up what happens in the destination country. First class international usually isn't tracked after it leaves the US. Priority or Express usually will be but you're depending on the other country's post office and that can be a crapshoot.
Pitney Bowes is another option. That's who does the eBay global shipping program.

quote:
Go to UPS Store and they give me 2 options for my 5 pages of documents going to Japan.
1. $93 to arrive yesterday if I use UPS.
2. $5 to arrive Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of this week if I use USPS.
3 days wasn't a big difference so I sent it via the USPS.
According to tracking, it's been sitting in Miami since last Thursday.
WTF?
Federal gubment what did you expect to happen?

What sucks is that I have to send certain correspondence USPS Certified mail per statute. And those worthless mother frickers have lost three statutory notice letters in the last year. Just disappeared. And there is nothing I can do about it.
They also lost a certified letter sent to me with a check. I tracked it and it took 5 days for it to get from the central office to my branch which is 3 miles away.

DHL is the way to go for international shipping in my experience.
