What a moron. The moment he dies, whoever gets his stuff is definitely going to sell.

For a fraction of the cost they would have paid previously. Now they cant go vertical on the pad since there are hotel rooms lining the entire surround. Its at best a single floor retail building now. Was worth way more when it affected the entire design and layout of the hotel.

I’m ok with the guy not wanting to sell, but he’s complaining about noise, construction, crowds, blocking his view, etc. time to move on buddy.

That guy’s house is going to get trashed every night at 3am once that bar opens next door.

What happens when he has to move into assisted living in the next 10 years?

And he’s complaining he can’t see a sunrise or a sunset anymore.

Really stupid on his part to not sell.

My aunt and uncle did something similar in Green Bay...a big apt complex was coming in and wanted to buy their place. They said no so they built teh complex around their place. It's the only house in the area now. It's not as tight as this situation but same concept.

He obviously shouldn’t have to sell, and if he were happy, I would say Godspeed. But he’s miserable. The idea of spending the rest of my life miserable just to hold onto the house my parents bought in the 1980s, which will immediately be sold and torn down once I die, strikes me as an absurd waste.

I’ve dealt with some situations like this with people who get offered 2-3x value and still won’t listen to reason. They have an opportunity to get an inflated value and improve their position in life for themselves and family, but can’t get out of their own way.

It’s still an eyesore and you know they want it gone. And I’m sure they already have plans for the space once they eventually buy it.

What he should do is move out and turn it into an AirBnb

He's going to die in that house no matter what.

Trust me, that stubborn "I'm leaving here in a pine box" attachment runs in my crazy family.
