Wait, the instapot can cook something like that in 30 minutes? No more 6 hour crockpot?

i do babyback ribs in mines. Takes less than an hour.Fall off the bone tender. Can eat just like that or if you want throw em on the grill for about 2 minutes per side at high temps for a charred outside.

Can this thing cook a pot of red beans (Camelia dry, not canned) and sausage in 30 minutes. I might start crying if you say yes.

You're right, but you do need time and advanced notice. With the Instapot I can get off of work at 5:30, decide I'm hungry for a roast, and buy the ingredients and eat by 7:30.

Well no shite. A crockpot just makes it way friggin easier and now the instapot makes it way friggin faster.

I don't understand the science of cooking crock pot recipes faster.

Isn't the "low and slow" cooking method the reason it tastes good?

Looks like an hour or so. Need two separate cook sessions for the dry beans + rice/sausage apparently.

I don't know this for certain, but this is what I'm thinking. Low and slow is good because it ensures that moisture is maintained, and the food doesn't dry out. I'm thinking by pressure sealing the container, which holds in the steam, the same process takes place, at a much higher temperature, but allowing all of the moisture to stay.

Thus, you're getting the same end result, but speeding up the process tremendously.

The key here is pressure. Pressure greatly reduces the cooking time and also infuses the ingredients with flavor.

If you're skilled with a spatula, sure.

I'd recommend a non-stick pan though.

My mother in law cooks almost everything in the smoker or on the barbecue with burners. Want me to ask her if you can borrow her balls?

Yeah, looks like prep time. Then, 45 minutes of cooking for just beans and vegetables. Then decompress. Then add meat, and set for 45 minutes. Probably about 2 hours total.

It's an all day affair for me normally. If I can do it in 2 hours, and get the same taste, that would still be phenomenal. I love cooking them, but have to plan so much ahead and start so early, I just don't.

I had a SuperWave or something like that, and it was incredible. I could take a rack of completely frozen ribs, pour whatever sauce on them, and they would cook in 45 minutes. Meat just falling off the bone.

Damn thing broke a year in, though. It was under warranty, but it was a bitch to clean and took up so much counter space.

yeah, but you have been able to cook red beans in 30 minutes for 50+ years using a regular pressure cooker.

Instapot is a cool concept, but its not earth shattering like people say here. I have been using a pressure cooker for 10 years. its awesome way to cook beans
