I see this shite everyday leaving downtown on 110. People use the bridge lane to get ahead of people waiting in traffic to get to 10. Pisses me every day. frick those people.

1 zipper merge is faster & more efficient than 2 or more merge attempts.
If the volume of cars backs up for any significant distance, the merge has already taken place. Coming around all of the alresdy merged people any distance ahead of the merge point is a 100% full on dick move.

People don't know how to drive very well. Following the rules of the road - aka, using a driving lane all the way up to the point that it ends - doesn't make you a dick.
Now, if people are passing on the shoulder and shite like that, or even using an exit only lane, frick them, but not a lane that merges legally.

We’ve all accidentally bitten off a little bit more than we can chew and had to eventually merge into a lane late af and skipped a ton of people.
You know what I do? I roll down my window and let everyone know that I’m legitimately sorry for doing it and that I need to get into their lane. People give back the, “oh crap I know you didn’t mean to do this” look and let me in and then I thank them.
I let people in who do this too.
But I damn sure don’t let people in who I can tell don’t give a shite about people around them and just want to get to the front. I’m as kind as a person can be but I won’t reward people who aren’t.

If everyone is using the zipper method at a certain point in the merge lane earlier on to be polite/everyone is consistently letting new cars in, if you let everyone zipper and then DONT ZIPPER YOURSELF WITH EVERYONE ELSE WHEN ITS YOUR TURN, and try to fly up to the very end of the lane, you aren’t using the freaking zipper method people. You’re just a damn rogue dickhead holding up traffic who’s over aggressive merging is one of the main reasons highways and interstates move way slower than they should.

People shouldn't drive as fast as they can to the end of the merge road when traffic is backed up. They should go slowly and find an "in" where they can as soon as they can in an efficient way. Driving to the front ignoring any possible "in" then jamming in there is a dick move.
Many times (if not all times) it is people who get out of traffic and drive down the merge lane to the end then screw up traffic. But, in your example that is following the rules of the road.

I saw a situation where there was a long line in the left lane due to an obstruction ahead in the right. People kept flying down the right lane and whipping in front of semis who didnt have the acceleration from a dead stop to keep the gap closed. So two semis got side-by-side in the lanes and kept everyone from using the right hand lane to zoom around.
The plan was for the truck in the left hand lane to let the right lane guy back in at the obstruction but a state police car came up behind them and made the truck stop blocking the right lane

rolling roadblock. I don't mind them doing it when there's a reasonable distance clear in front of them, but when the distance is a half-mile or so then they just need to get the fricksticks out of the way.
