It's way more convenient than going to Costco that's for sure.
I am the exact opposite. I enjoy going to the grocery store, especially costco.

frick. I have only been to the grocery story a handful of times the past two years.

This is me. I work from home, so any real chance I have to go somewhere, such as the grocery store, I take it. Now, I do try to go when places are less crowded and less people on the roads and in the stores just because of trying to avoid idiots.

Where will Instacart be able to find such skilled labor to grocery shop for other people?

Used it when I had Covid & cancelled it as soon as I could go back out

Why spend my “free time” in a grocery store? Between work and grad school and an internship Instacart has been a huge time saver for me.
That said, DoorDash does groceries through their app now for some places. And Walmart has their own delivery service. So I’ll just do those while they’re striking.

Did not know a thing called Instacart even existed.

Instacart is pretty awesome for tons of reasons.
Like if you have a health condition where you can't drive to the grocery store.
Or when you have a whole bunch of stuff to do like travel ball practice and tracking crawfish prices.
Or if you are Old AF and know you shouldn't be driving to the grocery store.
It's capitalism baby.

I recently semi-retired but wanted to work part time for spending money without being tied down, decided instacart would be perfect, I make over $20 an hour and it's really good exercise walking the grocery aisles all day, I'm not saying I would not like a pay raise but I pick and choose the orders I take knowing what the pay will be, no issues here.

Aside from the obvious (car wrecks) wtf could they possibly die from on the reg doing Instacart?

And hang around the general population in a grocery store?

Pretty mild demands. Not sure a walkout was needed. I mean:

I need a break from time to time too. Never have I thought going to the grocery store is where I need to go for that break.
I guess I'm weird, I love grocery shopping.

Willingly take a job that has shitty pay and benefits. Then stage a strike demanding higher pay and better benefits??
In other words, ask for a better deal. If Instacart can't get someone else to accept the sauerkraut and toadstool sandwich they have to offer better compensation. If someone else is willing to do the terrible job for terrible pay they can have it.

I'm always shocked that companies do this. My sister is a tech call center person for a major tech company. There was a dude who called her and threatened suicide. Company policy is to stay in the line until they get help. They did not remove that call from her performance and while it didn't materially affect her overall numbers, it's fricked up she got a bad score on that call.
