Looks like we found the Chicago of Europe except with knives instead of guns. It has gotten so bad that Paris is now the number 1 traveled city in Europe overtaking London this year. OT baws, what do you make of this?

quote:

LONDON’S knife crime epidemic has reached an unprecedented level and there have been 90 deaths in the capital since the start of 2019. Last year was London’s bloodiest in a decade – when the number of homicides reached 132 – and it shows no signs of abating.

quote:

It comes as shocking figures revealed knife crime in England and Wales has soared to a record high, with 43,000 offences last year.

Think of all the injured people as well. So many people injured by knives.

Acid attacks are on the rise too, but they aren’t putting out acid collection banks.

London's population is around 8.9 million. With 132 homicides, that is like a rate of around 1.5 per 100,000.

That is actually pretty damn low. Murder rates in various US cities per 100,000:
St. Louis - 66
Baltimore - 55
Detroit - 39
New Orleans - 39

London would easily be the safest large city in the US and it wouldn't even be close.

Right. Which is why I laugh at threads like this.

I think even NYC's homicide rate per 100,000 is somewhere in the 3 to 4 range.

You think they have a fetish to see someone die in their arms (tonight)?

There are about the same amount of stabbings in NYC as London, just have guns added as well.

Overall they are not a good comparison as we have different cultures. Just like when people try to compare the safeness of Japan to the US. the US is just overall more violent and diversity also plays a part in it.

I agree. The US is more violent, but I think people like OP really want us to think otherwise.

I work in the construction industry, but in an office environment. The only people that DON'T bring a carry knife to work are the women (and I'm sure that they have carry pistols in their purses).

I'm just glad we'd didn't grow up with dungeons, guillotines, racks, and other torturous devices implemented by the overlording few. It took strength to break away, and by golly, America!!!

For sure. like I stated, NYC has about the same rate of stabbings. imagine if you took guns away what the rate would be. It not just the OP though, its all sides of the political spectrum as well. The world is nothing but sensationalism and people are blinded by it.
