Have an ingrown toenail too deep to get myself. Anyone of you ever had one removed? What was it like?

Two shots in the nerve of my big toe - that hurt... a lot.

Then he cut it out - couldn't feel a damned thing.

Then he treated that sliver of the nail so it would never grow back.

Then he wrapped the toe, and told me to take it easy for a couple of days. There was some minor discomfort for a day or two, but was a huge relief as compared to the ingrown nail.

This was about 18 years ago and have not had a single problem since.

I cut a large "V" in the center of that toenail, as deep as I can. Over the next few days, the ingrown toenail pulls out.

I had the sides of the nail removed. The injections hurt a little at first, but when he cut out the nail, it was painless.

After that, it was a little sore for a few days, but not bad at all.

Don't let it get infected, though. Pretty sure that shite would be a nightmare.

Too late. Already infected and pouring with puss. Been putting it off but it is about time I get it removed.

This describes my experience exactly except mine was about 25yr ago.

That needle hurt like a mf. I'm not afraid of needles, except for that one. When the Dr. tells you to breathe as he's giving you a shot because of how painful it is and how deep he has to go, you know it's gonna be messed up. But once that part was over with, it's all gravy.

Unless you've already fricked it up and split a piece off.

Used to get them when I played soccer. Go get it cut out. Next to a root canal - This is 2nd on my list of "things I should've just done to begin with".

Have an ingrown fingernail right now. Would love some pointers to get rid of it.

Had 2 of these done as a kid. Hurt like a mofo when you got the shot, then once you're numb, you just feel the doctor cutting up in there. Not an enjoyable experience. But make sure it's treated so it won't grow back

Had it done in both big toes.

The shots hurt like the dickens from what I remember but I was 12/13 when I had it done.

0 problems since. You'll be amazed how big the nail is when the Dr pulls it out. One of mine was buried about a 1/2"

Go to podiatrist.
Pus indicates timing essential.
You are in for a scheduling chat.
Pus says ER.

Go to a podiatrist - not a GP.

Bamboo stick underneath the nail. Tap the other end with a hammer. Remove nail with pliers.

If you're this far you need to just bite the bullet and go to the doctor.

They have over the counter stuff but it's basically just numbing agents to help you dig it out.
