What are the most memorable deaths or murders that happened in BR?

Here’s a few off the top of my head, in order:
1. Governor H. Long
2. Barry Seal
3. Doucet (not murder, but plead no contest to manslaughter)
4. Derek Todd Lee murders
5. Three police officers Garafola, Gerald, Jackson
6. Sean Vincent Gillis murders
7. Betty Smothers (Warrick Dunn’s mother)
8. Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash (didn’t happen in BR, but they were heading this way)

I know he posts here, but there’s nothing said that he hasn’t said. His dad took a plea deal of manslaughter.

Maybe not at the time but it sure became one.

I forgot about that one. That was huge at the time.

I came back to post the three officers you posted. I put them at #5

LSU student Eleanor Parker, EWE's niece. Last seen leaving her place of employment and never heard from again. Technically a missing person but what other conclusion can you draw.

First time I ever heard of that one. Funny thing is, the story mentions Derek Todd Lee was suspected at one time (years later of course). He was 13 years old.
It also mentions Sean Vincent Gillis at one point. He was 19 at the time. That’s plausible, he was from that area.

Tinseltown murder was one that got a little attention. LINK Old Reddit link with some details on the expanded view.

Had a distant family member killed in that one circa 1997.

Eugenie Boisfontaine might not have been memorable at the time, but the TV show The Killing Fields, sure made it so.

I always believed she was a DTL victim. They never said, but I think most experts believe this.

Edit:
I just read where Sheriff Cazes believes it was him. His cell phone was shown to have been in the area at the time.

The officers in 2016 still makes me irrationally angry to think about, they were ambushed by an extremist over the media race-baiting a lowly thug's death. Ours and the Dallas shooting from the same month were nothing short of terrorism.

Out of that list I met Barry Seal Jr at a party in the’80’s. Graduated from high school with the grocery store manager making a night deposit when Betty Smothers was killed and I played BREC football for Garafola’s father.

I never knew the relation there but I remember a coach Garafola from BREC. Was that the River Oaks team?
