Is this the murders that they made a movie about? The movie plot was that the mother would not give up on the daughters case, and the cops were not giving it due diligence because all the victims were hookers?

According to Reddit, it's the guy being interviewed in this video: YouTube video

If you listen to the frantic 911 call of the first victim, escort Shannon Gilbert, you hear the voice of the john who hired her trying to get her off the phone who goes by the name "Joseph Brewer." There's no doubt that's the same distinct voice of the architect "Rex" in your video, who has just been arrested.

First victim 911 call

EDIT: nvm, I just watched “People Investigates: The Long Island Serial Killer” on Max, and Joe Brewer was a real guy, fully investigated & taken off the suspect list. It’s an amazing voice similarity, but entirely coincidental.

What a crazy story. I listened to a podcast a few years back about this case.
IIRC they tied the local cops into it.

A few years ago, the police released some identifying evidence, a belt, to the public that had initials on it (the funky font looked something like H.M. ) hoping to get a tip. The quote was that they believed it to belong to “a large man.”

Maybe, Rex was fat back then, too.

That’s so crazy, just a regular guy walking amongst us, other than the fact he’s a serial killer….

OOF.

quote:

Long Island serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann left his wife's hair on three of the prostitutes he is accused of murdering, and conducted panicked Google searches about the case asking why the mass murderer hadn't been caught yet before being taken into custody last night.

quote:

Prosecutors today released their bombshell evidence against him that includes;

-His wife's DNA was found on three of the victims' bodies
-Cell phone calls made from a burner phone to the victims were traced to his office
-A call made to one of the victims' sisters after she died was traced to his office
-His Tinder profile with photos of him was linked to the burner phone
-His Chevrolet pick-up truck was seen by witness to one victim's disappearance
-He matches description of 'ogre' like man seen with one victim before she vanished
