this isn't about "rewarding" anyone; it's about keeping the economy alive during these shutdowns, shelter in place, and quarantines. in this case, a rising tide truly does lift all boats.
The economy alive? My money doesn’t spend as well as some broke dick waitress?
I’m absolutely tired of supporting those perpetually circling the drain.
If you can’t afford your mortgage, I am absolutely sorry but if you’re going to give out tax rebates, you should have some kind of history of paying into the system. And everyone should be able to claim a rebate if they’re equally affected.

So, its the senate Republicans that are wanting the limits?

Still, it doesn’t make any sense? For 200,000 they reduce it by 10,000?
It makes sense if you can comprehend the sentence properly and do basic math.
(50000/100)*5 = a 2500 reduction in subsidy. Since they aren't going to be billing people whose "reduction" puts their subsidy at a negative number, your Trump Bucks come out to 0.

Everyone else getting free money and you getting nothing is a bill you paid.
A 200,000 dual income household with a kid gets 0 despite paying more in taxes than those who get thousands. That’s a bill.

If you make $200,000 you get $0.
Single Couple
$75,000 or $150,000= $1200 per person
$75,100 or $150,100= $1195
$75,200 or $150,200= $1190

We’re discussing this particular individual government check let’s not randomly discuss other things because you feel insecure

Somehow, previous generations survived a depression, a recession or two, and a few wars .... all without a subsidy. The entitled generation expects this from government. Some of us survive on a SS budget just fine. The loans and/or grants need to go to business to keep jobs. A lot are working from home, but a lot go to work every day so there is a cashier available for food, etc. People need to learn to survive without a handout; don’t expect life to just go on, adjust to the current environment and get on with living. Life is a team sport; help the family, friends & neighbors if can.

I’m nowhere close, nor do I need your insulting handouts.

I’m not saying high earners should be excluded, I don’t think they should be
This is being passed so the people who’ve lost their jobs can pay rent to their upper middle class landlord, or to go towards spending at the struggling small business throughout the country, for example.

I make more than that because I work 3 fricking jobs...one of which I'm losing because of this.

But let's be internally consistent.

Sorry to hear that. Keep your head up and be persistent. Anyone working that many jobs will find another. You keep doing you and stay on the grind

Good because making $250k a year with $2800/mo worth of student loans and about $50k worth of taxes doesn’t make you some kind of baller.

How are they going to determine who is over/under the $75,000 threshold when the overwhelming majority of citizens haven’t filed their taxes yet this year (for 2019)?
Are they simply going by taxes filed last year (for 2018)? Estimates show that nearly 50% file their taxes the week of the April deadline every year, and another 25% file an extension for the October deadline.

They already have the w2 data for 2019. Maybe they'll start with that?
