Both of these shootings will be out of the news cycle by next week.

Life is too easy, combined with the “in your face at all times” aspect of social media/general media.

People living on video games and out of touch with society. Also lack of parental involvement.

that includes the urban violence that the left loves to ignore due to their racist roots

this is very much true.

There will be twice as many black on black handgun homicides in the next week in Nola/Chicago/Detroit/Baltimore than those who died in these 2 mass shootings. But you can’t bring up that topic without being called a racist.

downvote away; it’s the truth

This will get downvoted to hell and back, but I think a lot of it is also related to the capitalistic mantra of "time is money" and the extremes that people have to resort to to make it these days. Money is less valuable than ever. Used to be, there was plenty of time to spend with your children. That's not the case in an awful lot of situations these days. Both parents are working full-time and flat-out exhausted from just being able to make ends meet. And work is also a 7 days a week, 365 days a year deal now as well. I think all of that has a role as well. People are just fricking tired.

Probably because there are numerous countries that don’t teach God in schools and yet don’t have mass shooting crises

But they have religion don’t they?

No, it's because they're entirely unrelated and making comparisons is pointless.

Your scenario is clearly a result of the war on drugs. I think most people accept that these days.

This scenario has no clear, simple answers.

You stop making drugs illegal and remove the black market and gang violence will cease because there's nothing to fight over.

we have a massive mental health problem in this country where due to our high level of respect of personal privacy, plus our negative view of people with mental problems, we allow a startling amount of people to fall through the cracks. we also give these people access to guns

i definitely dont think taking away guns is the answer, but whatever we are doing right now isnt working

it's not that simple either.

That's my point. They know God doesn't work for everyone but frick it, let's force it on them anyway in schools.

Every generation wants their kids to have more than they had and struggle less for it, but we have forgotten that your struggles are the places that develop your character, and teach you to be a strong, capable person who knows how to handle their own emotions. Young adults these days have come from an era where as children they were extremely desensitized to violent interaction and given a serious disregard for the value of life, without enough troubled experience to know how to handle their own emotions, and when things get out of hand they’re essentially just throwing a temper tantrum of the most violent proportions.

Destruction of the family and morals, the devaluing of human life, a sense of worthlessness in life, social media, the actual media. A whole lot of different issues.

In the 70's and early 80's bomb threats were literally a bimonthly thing. I can't recall any shooting threats, but saw this.

We're just dealing with copycats looking for notoriety today.

Most of these mass shooting seems to be young white males. Must be the lack of sex and partnership

people

Your post reads this is about "people".

Isn't the common denominator actually "boys / men", and their potentially dangerous emotionality?

We don't see "girls / women" mentioned in these heinous crimes.

I recognize the national budget only spends under 12% on social programs; but, we need to invest more on mental health for males.

Unless we do that, a lot of innocent gun owners will pay an ultimate price.
