To put humid states in perspective, I spoke to a lady from Phoenix yesterday that is visiting Birmingham. She said that she was having trouble adjusting to the humidity and didn't know how we survived a whole summer down here. I pointed out that the temp in Phoenix has been 115+ the last few days and will continue to be so for the next week. She said the heat out there is fine if you wear protective clothing and stay out of the direct sun in the middle of the day but just being outside for a few minutes in Alabama made her feel disgustingly hot.
Not sure about that. I have been in Phoenix off and on for the last month. A couple of weeks back when it was just 100, it wasn't bad. The last couple of days have been a special kind of hot though.
It honestly feels like a hair dryer blowing in your face when you are outside. It was over 110 at 8pm yesterday. It was 119 at noon.
I grew up in south Louisiana and I know the humidity just sucks the energy out of you. But 110-120 in Phoenix is unbearable IMO.

I remember going to work in DC over a summer in college and every time I got off the metro to walk the remaining few blocks I would enter the office building with a lovely case of swamp arse.

I've lived in GA and AL, and spent plenty of time in Mississippi, FL and LA
The most miserable summer I've ever experienced was in Washington DC

I bet the ladies all loved you.

In my experience, I've been to places in AL, FL, LA, MS, and SC that were all equally humid and hot as hell. I don't think I've really been in GA much during the hot months, but I'm sure there are places that are just as hot and humid as the other states.

I don't think you spent enough time in Mississippi or Louisiana.

Believe it or not DC is pretty damn humid. Caught me by surprise.
DC is ridiculous. The city was built in a swamp, and there is no breeze during the summer. Pretty miserable place to be wearing a suit and using public trans all the time.
South Georgia during the summer, especially when you're outside all the time, was pretty bad, but I was able to get used to it. It felt a slight tick dryer than other parts of the deep South.
New Orleans and Baton Rouge in August are rough.

D.C. is surprisingly miserable in summer.

Lived in the Ms Delta, Louisiana and Hawaii. Hawaii can piss you off being humid in December but Miss and Louisiana are King. Nola in August might be the worst.
I'm just glad I live in probably the least humid state and don't own an AC.

the most humid days in Louisiana and Mississippi felt way more miserable than anything I've experienced in Florida
Part of that misery is the knowledge you're in Louisiana or Mississippi.

Washington DC can be very humid.

Well yeah, you are wrong. It's hotter and more humid in south LA than DC.
In fact, it tends to be hotter in all of the most southern states, compared to the ones above them. Something about being closer to the sun.

TEXAS. It's so humid here, the porch ceiling fans inevitably warp.

South Florida, and it's not even close.
You're clueless. South Florida isn't anywhere near as humid as NOLA or Houston. Most of Florida is moderated by the ocean being on both sides of the state. Orlando is an exception and at least deserves honorable mention for most humid city.

I live in east Texas. It's pretty much just Louisiana weather. Maybe slightly less humid but a little hotter.
