Chromecast is garbage. Raspberry Pi 3 is much better.

I consider TV's disposable appliances once they are out of warranty. Tech savvy people scoff at the Vizio's and will whip out some chart that says the resolution is some percentage worse or some shite. frick that. I have owned Vizio's for years now and they are just fine for 99% of TV watching and the price is right.
If you were into ultra definition TV, I don't think you would be asking the OT. Get the Vizio.

Wait couple weeks for super bowl tv sales

Clyde, the two best pieces of advice I can give you is to use rtings.com for any information you need on the TVs you are looking at.. also, do yourself a favor and wait a few weeks for the superbowl deals

Wait a couple weeks. There are usually good TV sales right before the super bowl

Honestly, the best deals on tvs comes on black Friday and right around super bowl time....I would wait for one of those two, if you have the liberty to do so.
Also, I can tell you that in my experience, smart tvs are damn near worthless...I haven't found one yet that was worth the extra money that they cost.

Jump on slickdeals.net and look through their threads for deals. Found a 49" LG 4K for $229, courtesy of that site. Not a true top end 4k, but at that price it was hard to say no, especially when our living room unit needed to be updated.

Looked at the Sharp at Best Buy, but I read they were bought by Hisense or one of the other shitty brands recently. It said they're 2017 TV's were having issues.

Have you narrowed down your potential list of TVs yet?

Yeah, looking for a 60" Vizio preferably. I replaced the one that went out with one from a guest room, so no rush on buying. Hopefully a Super Bowl sale will pan out with a vizio, but any decent quality 60" for the right price will do.

I paid $650 for my 65 inch Vizio on Black Friday
Sadly, I can’t give you any reviews because it’s still in my storage unit
If you’re unsure on which brand to get, I highly recommend browsing rtings. com for all of their reviews

Did you buy the M series? I am looking hard at the M series as my first 4k TV. It looked very nice when I saw it in Best Buy. Like the poster above, I hope the TV will have some kind Super Bowl sale on it.

I'm happy with my Panasonic. Was in that price range.

65" Vizio E Series is what I decided on. It's $728 at SAMS, so $800 with tax.
But...
Sign up for a SAMS credit card (I don't have one), and get $30 off of your first purchase. Then there is this...
So the $30 off brings total cost down to $770. I put the $500 down I had as a budget and have 12 months to pay off the difference of $270. The balance of $270 over 12 months would only be about $22/month. And I get the TV day 1.
So, the clock is ticking. I'm going to do it after work today unless someone talks me out of it.
