People will act stupid about propane. Those people don't much.
There is very much a time and a place for propane grill.
I have a Weber Genesis and will never need another propane grill. It is a little more than your price range. As others have mentioned The Spirit is a model you should look at.

The only time for propane is when you have no charcoal

Bought a Weber genesis on clearance from Lowe's a long time ago to replace a piece of shite Charbroil grill that rusted to pieces in a couple of years. Was 50% off, and the seasonal manager knocked another 20% off because it was dented. Paid about $200 for it.
Called up Weber about a month ago to buy a burner kit to replace the original. Nice lady informed me that l bought it 9 years and a few months back, and that the burner kit has a ten year warranty. Mailed it to me at no charge. I use it 3 - 4 times a week, and I replace the flame guards every 4 -5 years.
Buy a Weber. Sales happen occasionally, but still a great grill if you pay list price.

Pit boss pellet grill.
Just smoked 4 pork butts this afternoon on the 500 sq inch....it’s pretty much set it and drink beer. Get the speed of propane and the taste of a smoker.
Or just get propane, cause if we’re fighting over pellets at the store, you won’t win.

A pellet grill is definitely the way to go. We’ve just acquired one and we’ve grilled some of the best stuff we’ve ever tried to grill. Cannot say enough about how well it’s performed and how pleased I am with it!

This 4 burner Nexgrill is usually $300, on sale at Home Depot for $180.

I'll use the smoker for that.
If I want to do burgers or steaks, propane grill is what I'd use.

You understand that a pellet grill does both, right? Smokes and grills.
It comes to temp(400-500 degrees) in 5-10 minutes and gives you the wood/charcoal taste that can’t be had on propane.
Traegers do not have the option(to my knowledge), but the Pit Boss has a slide over the flame that can be slid to allow searing as well.

I’ve got a kenmore 5 burner that gets to 700+ in maybe 2 min.
This is child’s play

I feel bad for people that can't cook amazing pork chops in 25 minutes after lighting the grill by turning a knob and pressing a button.

Buddy of mine had a pellet grill that he loved but was constantly breaking/clogging up I guess

I think that’s an issue with most of them. From what I’ve seen most have built in an option where it’s easy to pull the auger out now
I have been eyeing a camp chef woodwind SG

Weber genesis ftmfw. Some of y’all don’t know the difference between bbq and grilling and it shows.
Correct.
I have a Weber genesis when I want to quickly grill some kebabs, steaks, etc.
I have a Weber smokey mountain when I want to bbq a pork shoulder or brisket.
