The original one on Scenic, or the one that came years later, by Cortana?

On Airline, next to Benny's car wash, by the Mobil Station at Old Hammond.

Was it the place that turned into the reggae bar?

Culture Club? I always wonder if that place is still open when I pass. Great paint job.

Speakeasy Bar on Stanford across from the beach.

Good times, had a friend that lived in one of those big houses on Stanford.

We would stumble home........

I believe you. But wasn’t there another country dance bar on Sherwood Forest between Airlone and 1-12 (toward I-12)? I have a distinct memory of there being one there. Is my brain playing tricks on me?

I don't know of that one. There was one on Florida and Sherwood in the Albertson's parking lot.

The one I remember was a block off the LSU campus on Highland. Had many a malt or Lemonade there back in the early 60's during high school. On Friday night, you would have to keep driving thru until you finally found a parking spot.

The recent volcano/tsunami in Tonga made me remember the old bar in Baton Rouge called The Tonga Isle!

I was too young to have experienced the place, but they ran some groovy tv ads in the afternoon time slots on TV. Right between Match Game ‘78 and Gilligan’s Island.

All the school kids of my generation secretly wanted to see what all the fuss was about at The Tonga Isle!!

Building originally built 1979/80 or so. Called Sherwood Junction-riding the Urban Cowboy wave.

Became Quarter Note in mid 80's.

When it closed, the vet next door bought the property and expanded his location.
