Well that’s people aren’t visiting Alabama, Mississippi, or Arkansas. Texas def is a winner. And I don’t know if I would call California a winner.
New York is a major hub. Louisiana got screwed with Mardi Gras. Florida was hit with dumb college kids for spring break. Illinois and Michigan also have similar struggles of large cities!

Over half of the cases in Florida are in South Florida. The state as a while isn't that bad.

Other winners:
Hawaii: 9 deaths - so it looks like it hasn't gotten ahold of the Samoans there
Nevada: Looks like the diseased visitors all came to Nola that week and didn't head West to the Nevada strip
Losers:
Have to add Massachusetts and Connecticut here.
Move Florida to the winners board - that demographic should be getting wrecked and they're holding out ok.

When this was beginning, everyone looked at their dense urban areas like LA, SF, Oakland etc + volume of travel from Asia + tourist and business travel and thought California was just as likely as NY to explode.
Instead, their death rate per capita has been closer that of the most rural states in the country.
Whereas NY has had 450-500 deaths per million inhabitants, California has had only 20.
California has been one of the bigger success stories of any highly populated area in the world so far.

Considering their population sizes and other factors like travel from Asian countries, they had ample opportunity to become like NY, NJ, CT, but they've done really well when you look at per capita numbers.
Definitely in the win column considering what could've been.
Now, I will concede to you that they have implemented some of the more strict policies in stopping their spread and with the size of their economy it will be interesting to see how long they can hold out.

Oregon- 55 deaths especially considering the ties to Asia and would have expected significant spread from Washington.
California is likely having it's healthiest month ever. San Francisco is the second densest major city in the country and has 15 total deaths.

That’s more what I’m referring to. I’m holding out until the full picture until I call them a winner. Now as far as per capita and death rate and cases. So far, for sure they have been a winner.
