There are like five cities where these oil and gas conferences take place these days: NO, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Denver. In terms of location of the event and hotel, NO is usually the best option.

I don’t like NOLA

It’s damn good for conferences, championship games, and other big events

ETA: huge lol that you would rather it be in Houston

Compared to multiple other ritz Carelton’s and 4 seasons neither are a true 5 star. 4 star yes 5 not even close. Valet takes for every at the Ritz and the rooms needs to be updated. 4 Seasons is newer but not a true 5Star dining is so-so, rooms are very nice, good gym, valet takes a while.

You are not literate enough to stay at either fyi.

Missed turn for Colette’s?

Dial down the Truman Show manicured suburbia tone.

Not very becoming. Pun intended.

So you are clueless by two decades while asserting that people who currently reside across a canal are not well informed about a city beside them.
quote:

Plenty of people who grew up in sheltered Metairie under Harry Lee (RIP) who think they are experts in everything NOLA but don’t really know what it’s like to live in the city -
Being sheltered while still in close proximity does not erase your knowledge of the area.
Yep, short bus status confirmed.

the only threat they lived under was being beat up by ‘thugs’ from EJ

Most of the Metairians I know attended EJ. They did not need Harry Lee, but appreciated him. And you glossed over Newell who did a good job for JP as well.
quote:

Some may have ‘escaped’ but that doesn’t make them experts
Says who? We are supposed to accept you as an expert when you departed decades ago while we hear from people who can see NOLA from across the canal?
Beginning to wonder if you even possess the brain wattage to stay on the short bus.

The NOLA Ritz is one of the worst in the country.

Correct. Even our big name hotels (4 seasons included) are poverty by their lofty standards at the NOLA location.

It’s just a matter of time before the Ritz and 4 Seasons hit the eject button on NOLA. Move the hotels.

yes because those ‘across the canal’ have a biased view and I’m only up the road an hour living in a city dealing with the same problems as New Orleans - I wouldn’t consider myself clueless - I have about as much insight into the every day happenings in New Orleans as you do

that is exactly what it does - plus look above about the biased view

I think you should refrain from saying:
quote:

short bus status confirmed.
growing up in NOLA, Catholic school kids could not ride the public school bus like they could in JP - the times I went to public school I was able to walk - so your short bus category is foolish and very suburban of you

lol I never lived in JP, so I don’t remember Newell, I do remember seeing anti Harry Lee signs on St Claude Ave - I do not claim to have expert knowledge of what happened on the other side of the canal. But I did have mouthy cousins that went to Riverdale and ended up in the ER bc of EJ kids several Friday nights. Neither the Riverdale or EJ kids ever liked my friends from McDonough.

when did I say I was an expert? I was just agreeing with Swagga who said:

Always amazed at how many experts on New Orleans we have here
Everyone on the board says they avoid the city, yet they all know the ins and outs and areas to avoid.

I am very glad you are an expert on all things New Orleans while living in your Metairie safe space. Maybe I can get some tips from you on where to avoid when I go weekly into the city. I’m sure it’s very similar to the places I had to avoid when I evacuated 20 years ago. I mean there are some parts of town that have gotten better, but I’m sure you know all about that.

So you are an hour away and left 20 years ago, but have greater insight than people who currently live bordering the city...

I never stated that I live in Metairie. Guess you Arse-U-Med it because I knew a bit about the place and its history. I just keep tabs on the area - just as I do NOLA and other cities in Louisiana.

The New Orleans four seasons is fine by brand standards. I base this off stays at the Denver, Chicago and New Orleans four seasons within the last year. The four seasons in Chicago is weak, the one in Denver is fair, the one in New Orleans is better than each of those two. None of them are doing anything much different than a decent Loews.

Now the New Orleans Ritz is truly the toilet version of Ritz branded hotels.

I'm going in October for work. Staying at the Marriott on Canal. Already dreading it.
