I was once shy as a youngster and I just woke up one day and said 'frick this' and just started almost acting completely opposite of shy, I mean going all out. Next thing you know I was really one of the most outgoing and confident people I knew. I had no qualms of opening up to anyone at anytime. It's true what they say "fake it until you make it". You really can train your personality.

But seriously, say good morning to her and how are you doing every time you see her. You will probably get a smile and a simple response. After awhile she will stop and talk to you. You can really pick up subtle cues based on her reaction to a simple "how are you doing." Come across as just being friendly. If she is nice she will eventually talk to you.

Do you just see her in the parking lot, or do you both walk to your cars or from your cars to the building at the same time?

If you are both going in the same direction, be it to or from class at the same time then try to time it where you can walk beside her and just ask how she's doing or such. Then if she's friendly back maybe tell her there's a party or some folks going out or whatever and ask for her # or tell her the time and place of the party or whatever.

The good thing is, if she's not interested, you don't have to see her except in the parking lot so it's not like it will be awkward. You can still say hi or bye or just ignore her. So don't be shy, speak to her and ask her to go grab a coffee or a drink or to a party or whatever and if she says no, you never have to see her again except it passing. No big deal.

You're 19, in 20 years when you're about my age you will look back and laugh at yourself for being shy and think wtf was I thinking.

You're young, and I didn't see the pic of your ex so I don't know what you're used to working with, but based on the posts it must not have been terrible.

So just ask go up to her and talk and don't worry. Either she says yes or she doesn't. If she doesn't, don't sweat it and be cool about it and maybe later on she changes her mind and she will let you know.
