Use this post election stuff as the means to engage her!
Walk by looking at your phone like reading a text/tweet/whatever, and then engage her directly with something like:
Sheesh, I can't believe this. My Mom is TOTALLY freaking out over these Trump protests ....how's your people handling this stuff?
Let it flow naturally from there. You get to know her politics, and engagement level (radical/moderate/inactive), you can ride the natural reaction to the open ended question
Continue with open ended questions as much as possible so she talks and u can nod (as you lust head to toe)

Tell her the truth. That you think she's beautiful. Girls love to hear that. Then start lying to her. The best line I always used on a girl that I really wanted to see was " I don't go on dates very often because I have very high standards when it comes to getting the courage to ask someone out but you take my breath away. I have to at least ask or I will always regret what could have been."
