The river will shift to the Atchafalaya before BR gets another bridge

So when they turn the little 2 lane road in front of my house into a major commercial through way around BR, is my land gonna be worth more or less than it is now?

At least that saint Jim Bernhardt is going to do it all for nothing, just out of the goodness of his heart.

Let me translate this for y’all. “We all know where it’s going but we need four years for the consultants to line their pockets with tax dollars while the politicians and builders quietly buy up land along the planned route to sell back to the state at an inflated price.”

I find it incredible that the East bank highway to the Sunshine Bridge still isn’t four lanes from the bridge to I-10.

We'll have flying cars when that shite gets built.

Sometimes it makes a man wish that a vicious bulldog of a man would come in, tear through all the red tape of the bureaucrats and just make something happen, damn the fat cats trying to line their pockets.
Get men out there driving pylons, laying steel, having something, anything happen.
Damn who is pissed off they didn’t get their cut, dam the brother in laws that didn’t get the contract. But by god have something to show for all the nonsense.
Strong, decisive action, even if it isn’t optimal, is better than endless meetings and studies and plans.
Men can Cross a bridge. . We can’t Cross endless promises that never come to fruition.
I was going to say the only problem would be Louisiana welfare Kings/queens who don't give enough of a shite to vote this way, but then I noticed you're getting downvoted here by the people who should give a damn.
Guess we got some pissed off brothers in law here who don't want to lose their cut.

If the general public knew the BS behind what’s going on with that, there would be some legit pissed off citizens.

What the frick are they going to do in 4 years that they can't do within 6 months?

Also, how do you have a process that enables one person to make a decision on something like this. And then he picks the company of a billionaire whose proposal finished third in the process! Good grief! Bernhard is going to rape the state twice on this one. We will pay him for doing research and work to build it and then he is going to finance a portion of it also???
Welcome to Louisiana politics

4 years may not be a bad idea. Governor honor code and the genius he appointed to head up the LADOTD will both be gone. Then maybe someone with half an ounce of common sense can make a decision.

My company is one of the consultants. DOTD already has the base alignment that they want to follow, just "environmental feasability studies" have to be conudected first. With that being said the people in our traffic division are dropping like flies, because everyone hates dealing with the DOTD.

Lake Charles has had a location for 30 years and they are still waiting.

Worst case of this I ever saw was a City Councilman in Shreveport bought a chunk of woods on the south side of Shreveport and less than a year later the School Board miraculously needed land for a school in that area. He bought it for $40,000 and flipped it to the Parish for $1.2 mill. It was exposed and questions were asked and then it just faded away.
This bridge thing is going to make that look like shoplifting. Billions will be made on this deal.

4 years that should take 4 days
Posted on 1/28/20 at 9:25 am to doubleb
Will this bridge be connected to the loop?
