He ended up talking about his life with Officer Kevin Briggs for 92 minutes while he was on the edge of the bridge.

10 years later they meet on the same bridge in much better circumstances.

I watched a documentary on this bridge and the suicides. I recall one chap who jumped and survived. He swam to shore with a broken arm or ribs or something, then drove himself to the hospital.

This is fake news. White cops kill black people, not save them.

Side note, those air max 95s are the goats.

I think it was a Radiolab or This American Life episode where they interviewed a guy who jumped and lived. He said he felt regret the moment his hand left the rail. As soon as he couldn't grasp it, he wanted nothing more than to be able to take it back.

I had two takeaways from that.
1) That's awful to hear.
2) If I'm going to kill myself, do it with a bullet. I don't want time to regret it.

Seems like a lot of work when he could have just laid down in a kiddie pool

Eta: downvote away guys. Lost one of my best friends last year to suicide.

Know what would have saved him? Remembering how to laugh. A worthless drug head woman took everything from him. But the saddest thing she took was his laugh.

That guy’s body posture in the first photo reveals so much. He looks completely defeated.

I had the exact opposite reaction to that, even for people in that situation they regret killing themselves.

There is an element to “serve and protect” that largely goes unnoticed. It’s good to see it applauded when it happens.

Reading these stories are always tough. My biggest takeaway is its always complete strangers being there for you. You don’t have to suffer alone. People are willing and want to help, and it’s usually the most unlikely types!

Really sad that depression from $250,000 in medical bills from a preemie daughter is what sent him to the bridge that day. Makes you realize it could be any one of us.
