It is hard to read the ignorance in some of these replies (not yours).

As you alluded to, the FDA can and will fast track a drug that does well in trials.

It sounds like this isn't to that point yet.

I will follow this closely. Thanks for posting this.

Look up FDA Fast Track.

It happens quite a bit, especially with new drugs that target specific genetic mutations.

We need to stop allowing poors and people from certain continents to have babies b/c the world will be severely overpopulated when we all live to 140

Like the miracle EV battery with ultra-long range and a five-minute charge time that they keep saying is just around the corner, I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm at that age where I really hope this is just around the corner. :grimace:

Wrong. We can make a lot of things better.

No, of course not.

What these researchers have discovered, should it pan out, is extremely impressive though.

But it appears how they function in cancer is though

More research definitely needs to be done so that this could hopefully become evidenced based practice for cancer.

However I’m assuming chemo and radiation will kill T cells

great, now we get to wait 20 years before it gets FDA approved

Fly to Europe or Canada where it will be on the shelves years before it hits the US for a fraction of the cost.

Correct. I said that earlier in the thread, but this is **supposedly*** a different approach using T-cells.

A special type of receptor according to the article.

quote:

This particular T-cell receptor interacts with a molecule called MR1, which is on the surface of every cell in the human body.

It is thought MR1 is flagging the distorted metabolism going on inside a cancerous cell to the immune system.

"We are the first to describe a T-cell that finds MR1 in cancer cells - that hasn't been done before, this is the first of its kind," research fellow Garry Dolton told the BBC.

No way they let a cure out. Too much no at in treating symptoms.

Why cure with one drug when you can treat with 20?

You harvest them first and store them for later. Then you use radiation and chemo to frick up cancer real good. Then you reintroduce the T-cells you harvested to go in there and play hunter-killer with whatever survived the radiation and/or chemo.

The cure for cancer is right around the corner, boys, and it has been for 50 years!

much of the OP claims are accurate but most of that is them looking for money. multiple solutions for cancer exist, several in the form of immunotherapies. It's one of the worst secrets in the country. Cancer is not hard to beat. Greed is what is hard to beat.

Trials are an amazing thing. My sis had breast cancer and was cleared several years ago. The day of the 2018 iron bowl she had been dealing with headaches for several days. It had come back and metastasized in her brain. Large tumor. She had surgery and the first options were targeted radiation. When that didn’t show much of an improvement she was enrolled in a brand new trial at UAB. First patient in the country. She was given 3 months. She’s now been in the trial a year and the part of the tumor they couldn’t remove hadn’t shown any growth. Keep on fighting.
