Except there was no tornado outbreak in. S La.

When I was a kid I loved these days when they shut school’s down and not bad weather came.

How old are you?

School was cancelled because of possible thunderstorms exactly 0 times for me through high school.

Cancelled for possible hurricanes though

Bruh, it wasn’t that bad. It was a thunderstorm

Glad it wasn’t bad for you. It delayed commutes for 30-45 minutes here. But nothing other than that.

We never got out of school for a potential weather event.

There has to be some 2016 flood Ptsd mixed in there. That event came out of nowhere. Didn’t remember schools cancelling as often before the flood, and now everytime there’s a potential for this or that we shut it down

I never said it was a problem.

Just stating the facts of what other people experience instead of people looking at their own tiny bubble.

No reason to cancel anything in a small town like BR. But a 45 minute delayed commute for one of the largest cities in the county results in some people having 2+ hours commute. And when working/learning from home is now common place, it could make sense for people to stay home.

Not sure what y’all got in Louisiana but the storm that went through Houston early this morning was the most intense storm I’ve ever witnessed. And I’ve rode through many significant hurricanes. Wind, rain, hail, constant lightening for 20-30 minutes. The sky was a strobe light. Thunder was crazy. It produced a leak in my roof that Harvey failed to cause

This is because of all the females in this country working, so we turned soft and shut down because of a hangnail. This started when they got the right to vote.

These days one less day at school is a good thing. One less day to be indoctrinated.

I’m 42 with 32 years in south Louisiana. NOLA/Br/Houma. And last 10 in Houston.

Do that math on what hurricanes I’ve been through. Never said it was worse. But those 30 minutes were as intense as I’ve experienced.

Maybe I live in in a part of Houston affected more than your part of Houston. But I have damage on my house now than what Harvey left.

Never seen a storm like that other than when visited out west. Good thing it was quick.

Great opportunity for the baws to home-school their kids. Schools and teachers aren't worth a rip anyway, right?

Is it actually a big deal though?

What standard are you judging this against?

I did not know we were being so specific as to make a distinction in cancelling for weather only tornados (which is worse than your thunderstorms) instead of hurricanes. It was cancelled three times (two for hurricanes and one for ice/snow) and I cherished it.

These were supposed to be tornados. Pretty knowledgeable people, even on this website, were predicting that based on the best information available. They were supposed to hit around mid day. If that happens and kids are trying to get out of school during tornados it would have been a PR nightmare if even one child died. You act like they just cancel school on sunny days. There has not been a weather day the entire year.

Some of you people have forgotten what is was like to be young and have become curmudgeons.
