I love this city and the surrounding area. I've lived elsewhere and chose to move back. But we have a problem.

Friday night my wife and I went to see Girls Trip. We are white. I joked to my wife before hand that we might be the only white people in the theater. The movie looked funny (and it was) and I like to see movies that take place in NOLA. We went to the AMC Palace in Elmwood.

There was a line to get into the actual screen where it was being shown, so I went and stood in line for popcorn while my wife stood in line for the movie to get a seat. The entire time, all she heard were comments like, "that white girl must be lost", "why is that white girl here", and people trying to sneakily take her picture.

During the movie itself... it was a constant distraction of people taking, taking video and pics on their smartphones, etc. I've seen better behaved crowds at kids movies.

Saturday night, we met up with another couple and decided to give Dave and Buster's a try. We have been before to the locations in other cities, and had a great time.

It is a disaster. Several games were broken. It was crazy crowded, mostly with people standing around. The music was sooo loud that you could not even talk. We saw three fights in one hour. The entire place was ghetto-fabulous, despite having a dress code and at least a half-dozen OPSO officers on detail duty.

I never felt unsafe, in danger, etc. But both times, I was just like, WTF is wrong with people? It's like an entire different world.

I know this post is going to sound racist. I'm trying to not be. I know all black people don't act this way. But why do so many of them act like this. When we lived in Houston, black people didn't act like this (no one acted like this). This isn't a black thing, this is a NOLA black thing.

You were in the wrong place both times. Know your place boy.

Bad decision.

I only go to movies at Canal Place and the Prytania. Oh, and once in a while there's something at the IMAX.

Make better choices, you should have known what was likely going to happen

There are many things that you don't do in NOLA and going to Dave and Busters and a Queen Latifa movie are two of them.

why didnt you go see Dunkirk at the Prytania like the rest of the white people?

I'm sure those people that called out your wife had a bad day of work and just had some extra steam to blow off.

Wife or no wife, your credibility took a sizable hit here.

Jesus dude, what did you expect...?

You should've told the manager like my wife does... The trouble makers usually get thrown out, and the theater gives free tickets to another movie...

But then again, we don't go to the movies anymore because of that situation...

It's not just Nola. BR is pretty similar in many areas. I remember similar experiences going to the movies at Bon Marche right before it closed.

Do you even Canal Place bro? IF I ever go to the theater which is only once a year the only theater I would ever step foot in is Canal Place.
