It's on the news only because it's a somewhat famous persons mom and the family might be involved. If it's your mom or mine, it doesn't make news.

The majority of people following this case do not consider it to be a celebrity kidnapping I'm a news junkie and I had never heard about Savannah Guthrie before her mom was abducted. I bet the majority here don't consider this a celebrity kidnapping
Well that’s total nonsense. The entire reason this story is as big as it is is because she’s a celebrity.

And if you’re truly a news junkie, there is no way you haven’t heard of Savannah Guthrie unless you are in a right-wing bubble for news content. She’s moderated presidential debates and was on the Today show on NBC every day for years.

Your personal experience here does not at all match others.

This makes no sense, she's been a huge part of NBC's news programs for the last 20 years or so.

Saw and interview with a retired FBI agent who said if he went missing that nobody would know.

Children missing don't get the attention away from billions of dollars of fraud in Minnesota the way a semi-celebrity's mother does.

How many agents are working on this?? I don’t know but it seems like a lot. Dozens for sure. Possibly more than a hundred. Too many.

This story doesn’t make sense. Something is fishy.

It's doubtful she was taken by a so called "non custodial parent" who seem to be the main people accused in children going missing.
There are also the children who go missing but the family continues to collect money for taking care of them. Anyone else remember a little girl named Rilla in Florida? Memorable because her name stands for Remember I Love You Always.

Likewise elderly going missing are mostly those who may need assistance finding their way home (according to all of the silver alerts I get.)

This one is different with blood on the ground.

It’s because media manipulates what people care about and invest in.

And when you have a fellow media person's mother kidnapped in such a dramatic fashion, you will have all media outlets pushing this story until we have a final outcome. If Savannah Guthrie was a low-level actor/athlete, it would have made news the weak it happened, then fell to the back pages until we have a final outcome.

The media only fixates on what it thinks is profitable, which is why it only cares about rich celebrities.
