It’s a fricking monopoly and they know it and there is not a damn thing I can do about it at home or at our business.
You can probably thank your local council for that.

File a consumer complaint with the FCC here
Have every other person in the area you know who are having problems also file a complaint. Once those complaints are filed Cox will have a set amount of time to respond. At the least you have all now created a verified account of the issues.
I had a similar recurring problem with shitty, useless arse AT&T. It went on for the better part of four years. I knew what the problem was. I told every person on the phone and every useless tech who showed up what the problem was. None of them fixed the issue. Until finally one good ol' baw line tech showed up on the doorstep, a guy I had never dealt with from out of town. I told him what the problem was. He actually checked it. Twenty minutes later and it was fixed. I haven't had a problem since.
If he hadn't fixed the issue, I had the FCC complaint ready to file. I don't know how much it would have helped, but I was going to try it.
Good luck, and frick AT&T.

My bill has been around $180-210 for years.
Internet, TV with a ton of channels, and phone line. Not bad compared to the other comparable options.

I think a lot of quality of service just has to do with your physical connection. All cable companies are shite but I'd bet our Cox internet hasn't gone out 5 times in 10 years at my current house. I've been hesitant to switch to AT&T fiber because Cox has been so reliable.

Loads of homes in my neighborhood are switching to AT&T fiber literally the minute the install techs leave after installing the fiber lines.
Cox is awful. I immediately canceled for our residence and brought them back all of their crappy equipment.they then tried calling me to offer me a discount but I told them goodbye. I’m stuck with them at my business because I haven’t determined if fiber is near my office yet. My business phones went down one week for 3 days!!!

Funny how reliable a company can be when there's a competitor in the market.

Switched to AT&T fiber, 3 months ago, after 20 years with Cox. Internet runs faster, App is easier to use, customer service has been great. We’ll shall see if it continues
Have AT&T as well. Rarely ever have issues.

Me walking into Cox to return their shitty equipment after dropping them for fiber

One thing I've found that makes a big difference is having your own modem/router. The gear provided by the ISP is not very reliable and has bounced around from customer to customer.

Sounds as bad as Hughes Satellite Internet. Just horrible.

AT&T Internet
YouTubeTV
Great reliable combo.
I don't miss Cox a bit.

True story, I was up early Sunday morning trying to watch SEC football finale. A Cox commercial came on referencing wasting a high end tv on bad internet. The user on the commercial was experiencing the buffer symbol. I too, experienced the buffer signal during the 30 minute show. I went to the store, came back, and our internet was down for 2 hours.
I"m with you. Cox is terrible.

Cox does indeed suck. Now do ENTERGY.

GD dude, there’s options. Why are you dealing with 2 decade old technology.

FCC complaint
This is the correct answer...hard to believe but once you file that someone with the FCC will be appointed to your case and stay on top of it until the issue is resolved...the providers hate having to deal with the FCC so the issues get resolved quickly

I live about 1 mile from Cox's Corporate headquarters. You want I should firebomb them tomorrow?

Ive been to the cox location off Laplace in Marrero a few times recently with issues and EVERY single employee could care less about your issues. They won’t even look you in the eye. If you cancel something they just let you without batting an eye or even responding all. It’s like they have meetings on how to be rude and excel in it. They don’t give a damn. I wish one of them would at least tell me to go to hell because that means they actually acknowledged my existence.
