I’m so sick and tired of Cox Cable/Internet

For 8 fricking years, I have had to deal with Cox Cable for home and for our business
I cannot tell you how many times I have had to call them, make appointments, wait on hold, etc etc etc
Our business uses Cox Business for phone and internet. The amount of business we have lost due to their phone system always being down is staggering
At home the internet constantly goes down where I can’t watch the streaming apps.. can’t even use the internet. Wi-Fi?? That shite hasn’t worked in months. Contour goes down every other night.
I set an appointment with them and nothing gets fixed
Now before people come on here and tell me to go somewhere else.. there is nowhere else to go (maybe for business phone) but not for internet.
I’m at my wits end with them and I do not know what else I can do. There are no other options in town.
I get that the shite can’t be up 100% of the time, but good lord, it’s down 40% if the time!
Our phones and internet (10 offices total) went down again today for over 4 hours! This happens at least 3-4 times/month for hours each time.
I talk to other business owners and they are experiencing the exact same thing with Cox.
It’s a fricking monopoly and they know it and there is not a damn thing I can do about it at home or at our business.
I can’t cancel their service because a) we are in a contract at the business and b) there is not anywhere else to go.
They never fix the fricking issue and this has now been going on for 8 years
Before all of the “Dear Facebook” responses, sarcastic arse remarks, bla bla bla
Any suggestions on what I can do in this situation? I’m not concerned much for home usage but for business, we are losing a lot of customers because of this. There is century link for phone but their internet is horribly slow. If we switch to Century Link we have to get new phone systems, new lines into our building and pay an assload of money for breaking the business contract.
COX should be investigated by the FTC or whatever the frick it is for knowingly allowing for their service to suck arse while charging a shitload of money for their shitty services

I didn't read all that a, but yea they suck arse. Technical and customer service.

So I actually just switched to T-Mobile internet due to similar reasons. If you are very close to one of their towers it’s good. If you aren’t close to a tower it sucks. It’s worth a shot and they give you free 15 day trial to test your connection.

Switched to AT&T fiber, 3 months ago, after 20 years with Cox. Internet runs faster, App is easier to use, customer service has been great. We’ll shall see if it continues.

I ditched Cox cable when they sent me a $225 bill, and their support guy told me dropping back to basic cable would only bring the bill down to $215. Well, I brought it down to zero.
The first month I had the option to go to AT&T fiber, I did, and got 3x the speed for 40% of the cost of Cox internet.
Check AT&T and see if they offer fiber for your home or business.

This weekend my download speed was ranging from 1.5 to 3 mps
On my “up to 250mps” plan

If you have a business contract with that many locations then you have SLA's. Have you attempted to enforce them?

About the only way you’ll start getting some attention paid is to make a ruckus on their FB page and don’t let them push you to got to Messenger for them to “be able to assist you better”. Keep the whole conversation in the open.
The other option is to post on DSLreports for help. There’s quite a few helpful Cox employees monitoring posts there who will try their best to help you and troubleshoot. I was at my wits end with them a couple of years back and someone pointed me there and finally things got taken care of.

With 10 offices, does your building have fiber?
Posted on 10/10/22 at 6:58 pm to Mr Boyles
I didn’t read all that but changed to AT&T fiber and YouTube TV about a year ago.
Had Cox 20 years prior.
Feel like a dummy for not switching early!

Just got my bill. $255 for cable, internet, and phone.
I’m kind of stuck in that I have no other option to get internet out here. I’m seriously looking at musk’s satellite internet and just completely cutting out Cox.

Do you have a splitter? That was killing mine. Took it off and it’s been great since.

That's a good enough reason for me to say, frick AT&T.

What modem do you have? You can check the signal on the default link and it should tell you the issues

I think I'm the only happy customer of theirs

My service is actually really good. My cost is outrageous and I have no credible threat and they know it.
