I’m rethinking this whole early retirement idea.

I’m not even kidding. Being stuck in the house for weeks with the wife, without hope for escape, has made me want to work until I’m 100.
Plus, if this goes on much longer I will run out of money.

Just start a business if you don’t own it already

I thought I was gonna get so much done around the house.
I can’t even diligently binge Netflix anymore.
My motivation is at an all-time low and I’m basically on an opposite from normal sleep schedule now.

I could do it. I have had a few good weeks.

Are you planning to trap yourself at home for weeks at a time during retirement?

Get divorced, serve papers..spice up the life

It's really simple.
Build your investment accounts to 7 figures, and get your pension + SS total above 6 figures.
Easy peasy.

This has driven home what I’ve always said: while I plan on cutting back significantly as I age, I never plan to fully retire. I enjoy my work. I enjoy maintaining the relationships with the people I work with. No reason to just cut ties completely.

You have to find the right place to live. I picked a place where if she nags me out the door, I just go to the dock and drop the boat in the water and go. Make sure you retire to the right place.

If I didn’t have to work now I’d split time between my ranch and the lake house on Rayburn I could afford to buy in retirement.

I have made this same comment to others. Although, I am seriously contemplating keeping a part-time job only and having flexibility. I am bored solid now.

I’m sure your wife would be pleased to hear how you truly feel about her
So sad. I feel so bad for her

If I ever actually retire from what I'm doing now I'll definitely wind up volunteering/working at a golf course.
Work a couple of days then play golf for free. That'll be my retirement.

Opposite here. I'm convinced more than ever my plan to retire in a couple years at 45 is perfect. I may try to find something flexible part time but more time with kids and free time to exercise, read, and other simple pleasures is priceless. If I kept working it would be trading material things for living quality life as I choose. Too bad retirement savings have taken a huge hit but I'll still be able to swing it unless they cut military pensions to pay for this stimulus on top of years of deficit spending despite a robust economy.

Slippy - I'd play golf with you at Copper Mill brother but I have 20 years left.

This crap has been awesome.
I hit my workout each day whenever i feel like. I have been enjoying Netflix and movies. I have been spending quite a bit of time around the pool.
I’m extremely content with life
