Scruffy has a beard and only uses them for edging.

I agree that edgy and controversial commericls can be effective. But when your attempt at being edgy and controversial is to insult your maim customer base, that’s never good. That’s especially true when you’re already losing market share like Gillette has been doing for quite some time now.

I'd like to have been a fly on the wall when they discussed the goal of the commercial. I know people joke about how it probably went, but I would be genuinely interested to hear what they're trying to accomplish. Surely they figured this reaction would happen, so what's the end game?

I honestly think this is a result of the people at Gillette living in the far-left liberal bubble. They are liberal, surrounded by liberals, and only listen or give any weight to those who see the world as they do. That’s the only logical reason I can find to explain how they thought this commercial was a good idea.

I buy a 30 pack of Gillette Sensor2 Plus razors on Amazon subscribe and save every 3 months. $20. It's a 2 blade razor, but I don't have any prove throwing it away every 3 days or so.

Scruffy hasn’t been clean shaven in almost 4 years and razors last a really long time.

That's part of it, but they're often intelligent too, and you knew you'd catch flak for this commercial. I just want to know how they quantify it in order to pull the trigger on the idea.
I'd also like to know how they measure whether or not it's a success.
