Park City is my favorite ski town hands down

it’s base is low enough that most people susceptible to altitude sickness can avoid it. the mountain has a lot of terrain, and good lift system. the Town Lift is the tits. some great bars right around it.

the downtown area is split into Park and Main, which makes walking around a lot easier than a place like Breck with just one long main drag.

it’s also easy as frick to get to. the SLC airport has the best rental car set up. takes 10 minutes to get your car, 45 minutes on 80 and you’re there. boom

Oh, I guarantee if he starts at the top, he'll get down to the bottom.

(maybe not actually snowboarding, per se, though)

*And Park City ain't bad. But Alta and Snowbird are 2 of the world's best. And THE best for powder skiing. However, for bars and partying, Park City is the GOAT.

[no snowboards at Alta, Snowbird allows them]

Lean forward. Even if you think your leaning forward too much, lean more.

Leaning back only makes you fall on your butt.

If you want to turn left, put pressure on your right foot.

This is for skis. Screw a snowboard.

You say you can’t swim so u assume you can’t waterski. If you can waterski, everything is completely backwards from waterskiing.

Take easy wide runs the first day. It comes pretty quickly once you quit falling on your butt.

Try skiing instead. I’ve heard it’s easier to learn.

I am decent at skiing.. I have occasionally snowboarded. Snowboarding is fun, but more difficult and more painful. Rent skis

Jealous. I’ll take your spot.

Wear a helmet & stay away from trees.

I like hearing this. Youngest just started his freshman year at the University of Utah. His roommate is an instructor at Snowbird. I keep telling my wife that once ski season starts, we won't see or hear from him again.

Went back in college and it is awesome.

As for snowboarding...I had been skiing on the east coast before but thought I would try snowboarding on this trip. Got a lesson on the first day and then proceeded to bust my arse down the mountain for the following 2 days. Was seriously close to turning in my snowboard rental for skis but stuck with it. Finally got the hang of it on day 3.

When you fall on skis, you are able to move you legs and somewhat ease down, when you fall on a snowboard, you catch an edge and it is like a damn catapult that throws you into the snow (hopefully fresh powder and not ice).

Hopefully, your accommodations have a hot tub because your legs are going to be so damn sore after the first day (but that would be the same with skis).

Also, getting on and off the lift is much harder than with skis because you have to disconnect 1 boot and then kinda push yourself sideways.

Word of caution...On our last day, I decided to go balls out and tear it up. Was just starting down the mountain after lunch and I caught an edge. Went down hard and my left arm was pinned behind me and I fractured it. But got a ride down the mountain on a snowmobile.

Not sure if it has changed but when I was there there was a really long enclosed lift ride at the Canyons from the lodge to the slopes. Great opportunity for a hot box.

TL/DR - PC is awesome, listen to everyone else and go with skis over snowboard.
