You seem unwilling to consider illegals cost a state anything. If you can get past that, then you can work on pondering the cost. It doesn't take long to arrive at reality.

I googled and it said illegals are only able to receive emergency Medicaid and it runs $62-90 million a YEAR.
Where are these numbers coming from?
It appears to be coming directly from the state for November 2024. Where (and when) are google’s numbers coming from?
It could also be including discharged and what hospitals are losing due to inability to turn down illegals. I am not sure if how or if reimbursement occurs from the state or feds (pre-Trump), but at least likely made up for by taxpayers and taxpayers’ higher insurance premiums.

Ever since Obama care and Medicaid expansion started, all these nationwide hospital systems are making a killing from federal Medicaid dollars
It’s not just Louisiana (lake or Ochsner systems). It’s all over the country. this is true - For every $1 dollar a system like Ochsner spends (loses for taking care of uninsured or Medicaid) the Feds give them $3 dollars in return.
look over the past 15 years of these public / private partnerships. That’s why these large hospital systems keep growing / building/ expanding. They are taking these huge Medicaid payouts and instead of investing them back into poor hospital communities, they are building new beautiful clinics, outpatient atriums , wellness /sports centers

Companies found employing illegal aliens should be fined 10k a day that they have been employed after the United States helps set up a rock solid method of proving citizenship. fricking sick of this.
I normally don't care about illegals, but a single dollar of my taxes going to actually help them is utterly unacceptable.

Emergency Medicaid: Undocumented immigrants in Texas can qualify for emergency Medicaid to cover urgent medical needs, such as emergency room visits or childbirth.
Guessing there are a lot of childbirths and a lot of exaggerated urgent medical needs.

What?
Who thinks that?
No one with brain.
It is a picture of screenshot that is conveniently cut off on several areas.
It is from 11/2024.
Should be supereasy to cite a source with complete data from Nov of 24, right?

Dude posts “illegals received $121,779,579 in Medicaid/Medicare benefits” and then shows a screenshot totaling about $ 25 MM in Medicaid. What am I missing here?

Thats right.
I said it didn't happen.
Pull up a source that proves me wrong.
It oughta be simple.
Im man enough to admit when Im wrong...

I wonder how much "legal" immigrants that should only be here if they can support themselves are getting.

It’s so wholesome how progressive texas is
Louisiana is so backwards and non diverse

My guess is that 121M is likely an annualized total.
He said illegals made 31,000 visits to hospitals in November 2024.
Texas is a big state, but 1000 vists a day by illegals also seems crazy.

Illegals go to the er for a runny nose

I think he just misread his own visual. What are the odds that the “annualized total” is to-the-dollar the exact number of a nine digit dollar amount?

Not at all. Illegals go to the ER for everything since they don't have a PCP.
Then, the tax payers get to foot the bill on the back end.
Then, the tax payers are told this isn't real and illegals aren't getting free health care, free education, free etc...
So you are probably right. This doesn't happen and anyone who notices needs to be shamed.

120 is likely correct, annual, based on what Texas budgets anyway, assuming other posters ate correct. He probably deliberately misstated facts to get the proles in an uproar.
But Im FOS, so the other posters who can't read or do math will be along shortly to prove me wrong.

Where did I say it didn't happen?
You people make up your own "facts" just like the OP.
By Texas own budget, it happens about $90M worth, which is, of course, ridiculous.
It didn't happen in an annualized amount in Texas at $1B.
OP is false and misleading.

40%+ of LA residents recieved some form of state aid.
That was true a few years ago, not sure of % now. (2023, I think)

I’m not sure but it’s a lot
Plus there are new programs, so I’m sure that number is higher
I have family members that work for the department so when I say to cut it out I don’t want them to be unemployed but it’s ridiculous
There has to be a deputy at my sister’s (no pics) office bc people get upset that Benadryl is not covered by Medicaid.
