You think this is normal behavior? You’re a fricking crook if you think so.

These programs are probably the most corrupt racket going on in the state right now. This story is just the latest example.

I mean that's why Louisiana has a high incarceration rate, cheap labor.

He's had someone go against him in the previous two elections as well. Just keeps getting elected by an overwhelming margin.

the hypocrisy is cute.

More than likely violates many areas of the Ethics training the Sheriff no doubt has to complete annually.

Thanks for letting us all know you're an unethical person just like Cazes.

not no, but hell no. I've met the man. Know his daughter. She works crime scene for LSP. Or did last time I talked to her.

He a congenial fellow, but he's also a politician. So I'm not shocked at this. I certainly don't condone it, but its on par when you look at this state and its politicians. A public official used his office for personal gain? And did so without concern for the public's well-being? Shocking.
Sadly, I think most of us would do the same if in his position. Hard to be an honest man- ethical, truthful, moral- and be in politics. Its just too tempting for most people to not abuse the office. At whatever level you serve.

doubt it hurts his reelection chances though. depends on if he keeps getting pushed on it.

CNak got him all pissed off a few years ago when he had that Gosserand chick from NR working in his office when she was supposed to be in jail for DWI/vehicular homicide. This aint the first time Cazes has gotten in the news in a bad way.

WTH are you babbling about? I didn't condone his actions. Just said everyone in the thread would do the same if they were sheriff. See above on why I said that.

Hell, it seemed like the news was there almost monthly to close out 2018 for a string of trustees walking off site because no one was watching them.

Is this supposed to make it better? Since when can you just hire inmates to perform personal work for you? I got a few jobs I need done at 10 cents an hour.

When I worked for the sheriff's office as a teen, I kept the sheriff's yard mowed, camp yard mowed, and his mom's yard mowed.

Honestly, I see no issue with that level of corruption.

Eta: ironically, at first my job was to bring a sex offender out there to do the jobs. Later on they decided maybe trusting a 16 year old to chauffeur around a flasher wasn't the best idea.

He’s been shady for a long time.

I’m old enough to remember his BS in the Victoria Gosserand case.

neither. He's a politician. I believe all politicians are corrupt. Even if you start out ethical, the temptation is just too great and you end up doing things like this.

So if you or I were in his place, we'd do the same shite. You wouldn't use an inmate to clean up your yard? Or your mom's yard? You wouldn't use your influence to help a buddy- or someone you owe- out of a jam? bullshite! Its the nature of politics.

That's why, IMO, good people don't stay in office. They can't handle the corruption. So they leave and we get left with what we have now.

I'm not trying to be insulting or approving what he did. I just think its impossible to be a politician and not do something like this.

most everyone on this board talks about smoking weed or driving drunk. To them its NBD. But its still illegal, right? But they all act outraged that a sheriff- a rural sheriff at that- did this? c'mon man. they'd all be doing the same shite because this type of behavior is so common for politicians. And this is baby shite compared to what the big boys do.

I'll bet he catches more shite for getting caught, then for the act itself, among his peers.

12 years of catholic school chief. Thanks tho.

Maybe you should run for office. You seem to think you have the integrity to resist the temptations inherent to the position. I think you’re full of shite. The sanctimonious are the biggest sinners (generally)
