Skiing is great but it's too expensive. That's really the only problem with it. No idea what you're talking about with cold and ears popping.

Yep then all of our health insurances might go down!

Keep being cocky, just takes once. Nothing like a lifetime of regret, being laid up and useless to everyone who depends on you.

you can thank Vail Resorts for that. It wasn't always like that

I agree, puttering down the hill when you are fat and out of shape sounds miserable.

There are some people that form their whole personality about skiing and live over 1,500 miles away from the nearest Colorado mountain. They are on par or worse than marathon runners. I've done it before. Was it fun? Not really. Is it worth the money all in for everything? Not at all.

I don't get the hype. I hate 0 degree temp. I hate the altitude. Ears constantly popping and unpopping. I don't like the lines. I don't like how much effort it takes to make one step in 2 feet deep snow. It's like 40 regular steps. Hangovers seem to be worse in the mountains. It's repetitive. As a 2 time skiier, I feel like I'm going to kill someone when going down. Pizza does not slow me down, it does not work. I'm not doing it wrong, it does not work. I don't get it. I think people like it because other people like it, and it's in a rich town so it's considered an elitest hobby. Not because they actually like it.

I spent a couple of winters in my early 20s skiing all around Lake Tahoe. It was just perfect.

I can understand the ski trip vacation not being for everyone. The expense, wrangling kids, massive lines because you’re probably there around the holidays with everyone else, BUT if you had the time to ski a few days a week, away from the crowds, it’s just about perfect. Going solo is even better. There’s nothing quite like those perfect days where it’s just dropping massive flakes, but there’s no wind, and everything is really quiet.

One of my favorite parts was at the end of the day, when your body was tired, you’d ride back to the car, trade the ski boots for regular shoes, dig out the couple bottles of beer you buried in the snow bank and pound those with a couple of cigarettes. I always slept like a champ after a day of skiing.

As someone who has never skied or even seen that much snow, it has been a bucket list item for me for year. I feel like it would be fun to ski or snowboard. I also feel like I'm getting too old for that kind of activity. Don't really feel like tearing an ACL like I've seen a few people I know do during their first times skiing.

Go to Ski Apache in Ruidoso New Mexico if you want good skiing and don't want to spend much money.

What a pussy complaint. My son was on black diamonds at age 5. Pizza worked for him. It worked for me. It worked for my daughter. My wife was a part-time ski instructor at Deer Valley during college breaks and weekends. So she taught all of us.

It's elitist only if you go to elitist type resorts instead of places like Alta or Brighton.
